Activision Blizzard (ATVI) Gains As Market Dips: What You Should Know

Activision Blizzard closed at $47.05 in the latest trading session, marking a +1.55% move from the prior day. This change outpaced the S&P 500's 1.58% loss on the day. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 1.99%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 1.63%.

Coming into today, shares of the maker of "Call of Duty" and other video games had lost 8.89% in the past month. In that same time, the Consumer Discretionary sector lost 5.92%, while the S&P 500 lost 6.62%.

Investors will be hoping for strength from ATVI as it approaches its next earnings release, which is expected to be February 14, 2019. The company is expected to report EPS of $1.30, up 38.3% from the prior-year quarter.
