Product sales constituted 29% of the revenues. The company operates in two principal business lines: Reservoir Description and Product Enhancement.
The Reservoir Description segment is responsible for analyzing core samples of reservoir rocks for energy explorers ahead of the production. The collected data enables the producers to better understand the quantity and quality of hydrocarbons present. Accordingly, the explorers can determine the best ways to develop the fields so that they can maximize their output. This laboratory-based procedure helps in determining the rates at which oil and gas can be produced from the reservoir. Most of the firm's clients in this segment are non-US. During 2023, the Reservoir Description segment generated approximately 65% of the company’s revenues.
The Product Enhancement segment is engaged in helping operators increase oilfield recovery. It helps the oil and gas producers in well completions to increase recovery and extend the production life of the field. The company uses hydraulic fracturing and enhanced oil recovery methods to boost its output. The scope of the work also includes to adopt effective techniques to minimize the damage to the formation while bolstering the output. A vast majority of Core Laboratories’ Product Enhancement products are patented. This segment contributed 35% of revenues in 2023.
As of Dec 31, 2023, Core Laboratories had cash and cash equivalents worth $15.1 million and long-term debt of $163.1 million. The company’s debt-to-capitalization was 41.1%.
