Is Russia the biggest influence now on Global Markets? Our Chief Equity Strategist and Economist, John Blank, thinks so. He joins me now.

1. Was this obvious given the geopolitical situation between Russia and Ukraine or did you have to do some digging to arrive at this conclusion?

2. How does the release of major oil reserves play in here?

3. So to clarify a bit more, this really has to do with the price of a fundamental product and its relationship to earnings of companies that work with that product, namely oil & gas companies, correct?

5. Speaking of earnings, we’re in the Q1 2022 earnings season. It seems to have had a fairly solid start despite a few negative reports. We’ve already seen big bank and tech earnings. Based on what we’ve seen with earnings in relation to market action, do you expect earnings to trump other stock market influences for a while?

6. What do you think of how the big tech earnings came in, especially seeing that the Nasdaq is flirting with bear market territory?
