DICK'S Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS - Free Report) remains committed toward store expansion and enhancement of store productivity for continued improvement. In line with its efforts to strengthen store base, the company will inaugurate two new stores in California. These stores are slated to open doors on Sep 9, with grand celebrations continuing over the weekend.
The new stores will be located at Reynolds Ranch in Lodi (2770 Reynolds Ranch Parkway) and Cochrane Commons in Morgan Hill (1007 Cochrane Road), in California. These openings will take the company’s store count in the state to 45 and its countrywide store base to 656.
The new stores will offer over 40 in-store services provided by DICK'S certified PROS in sports and outdoor specialties like golf, bike and fishing. Additionally, these locations will house Under Armour Inc. (UA - Free Report) and Nike Inc. (NKE - Free Report) shops. The outlets will also accommodate athletic clothing and footwear, along with the latest equipment for team sports, fitness, camping, hunting and fishing.
In order to attract customers to its new stores during the celebration period, DICK’S Sporting has announced a range of lucrative giveaways.
The company will distribute free Reebok Play Dry T-Shirts to the first 100 people in queue on the opening day. The early birds (only adults) will also get an opportunity to open the DICK'S Sporting Goods Gift Locker on all three days of celebrations. Moreover, on Saturday and Sunday, the company plans to give away Mystery Gift Cards to the first 100 adults in line.
Additionally, former San Francisco, first baseman, J.T. Snow and running back, Roger Craig, have been invited to make in-store appearances at the Reynolds Ranch and Cochrane Commons outlets on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Also, those coming to the stores first will be handed out a wristband, while stocks last.
We believe that this full-line sporting goods retailer will benefit from its in-store action and online growth strategies. Also, the company has been aggressively expanding its store base and eCommerce capabilities to achieve its long-term revenue target of over $10 billion by the end of fiscal 2017.
Currently, DICK'S Sporting carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). A better-ranked stock in the same industry is Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp. (BGFV - Free Report) , holding a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
