Global Payments (GPN) Beats Q1 Earnings on Organic Growth
October 05, 2016

Trades from $3

Global Payments Inc. (GPN - Snapshot Report) is a leading provider of payment technology services, with operations in 38 countries. The company continues to make strategic progress in expanding its solutions business, and continued development of its omni-channel solutions offerings.

GPN has been expanding its presence significantly in Canada. It added over 4,000 new e-commerce customers in the UK and Ireland, and inked several enterprise e-commerce clients in the UK in the fourth quarter, levearging its Realex platform.

However, GPN’s business strategy hinges on acquiring complementary companies that consume significant resources and entail huge integration costs. In the trailing four quarters, GPN has managed to beat earnings on all occasions with a positive average earnings surprise of 7.68%.

Currently, GPN has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), but that could definitely change following the first-quarter fiscal 2017 earnings report, which was just released. We have highlighted some of the key stats from this just-revealed announcement below:

Earnings: GPN beat earnings estimates. The company reported adjusted EPS of 86 cents, Zacks Consensus Estimate of 79 cents.

Revenue: Revenues beat. GPN posted adjusted revenues of $817.3 million, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $812 million.

GLOBAL PAYMENTS Price and EPS Surprise

Key Stats to Note: During the quarter, organic growth escalated across various key markets. The company’s recent acquisition, Heartland saw strong growth momentum in the U.S. Its businesses in Europe and Asia reported significant increase in revenues.

Stock Price: Shares remained unchanged in the pre-market trading following the release at the time of this write-up.
