Alaska Air Group Inc.’s (ALK - Free Report) wholly owned subsidiary, Alaska Airlines, has launched a year-round nonstop service between San Diego and Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport. San Diego is the third West Coast city to connect to the capital of Mexico, the other two being Los Angeles and San Francisco, from where flight services started in August.

Mexico City is the ninth destination being served by the carrier from California. Other destinations from California to Mexico are Cancun, Ixtapa/Zihuantanejo, Loreto, Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. The carrier introduced services to Mexico in 1988.

An Embraer 175 aircraft, operated by SkyWest Airlines, will ply between San Diego and Mexico City. Passengers will enjoy Alaska Airlines’ premium facilities like food and beverages inspired by local chefs, customized leather seats with adjustable headrests and power outlets in first class cabin. The aircraft also provides the carrier’s exclusive entertainment service, Alaska Beyond Entertainment, allowing customers to watch free movies and TV shows on their personal devices.
