Lucid Group (LCID) Moves 28.8% Higher: Will This Strength Last?

Read MoreHide Full Article

Lucid Group (LCID - Free Report) shares rallied 28.8% in the last trading session to close at $5.95. This move can be attributable to notable volume with a higher number of shares being traded than in a typical session. This compares to the stock's 8% loss over the past four weeks.

Lucid shares bounced back yesterday after the company reassured investors about its financial health, dismissing reports that it was considering bankruptcy or a move to go private. Chief Communications Officer Nick Twork said Lucid has sufficient liquidity to fund operations well into next year. As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, the EV maker held $714 million in cash and $3.2 billion in total liquidity. Its financial position was further strengthened earlier this year with $1.05 billion in fresh funding backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Uber.

This an electric vehicle automaker is expected to post quarterly loss of $2.58 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +7.9%. Revenues are expected to be $373.56 million, up 44% from the year-ago quarter.

Earnings and revenue growth expectations certainly give a good sense of the potential strength in a stock, but empirical research shows that trends in earnings estimate revisions are strongly correlated with near-term stock price movements.

For Lucid Group, the consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has been revised 13.4% lower over the last 30 days to the current level. And a negative trend in earnings estimate revisions doesn't usually translate into price appreciation. So, make sure to keep an eye on LCID going forward to see if this recent jump can turn into more strength down the road.
