Will GeoCue Partnership Accelerate Ouster's Lidar Growth?

Ouster, Inc. (OUST - Free Report) , a provider of sensing and perception technology for Physical AI, has entered into a strategic partnership with GeoCue, a provider of drone mapping payloads and software. Under the collaboration, GeoCue will integrate Ouster’s native-color Rev8 OS1 Max digital lidar into its TrueView product portfolio. By combining TrueView 1 payloads and LP360 software with Ouster’s digital lidar technology, the companies aim to provide survey-grade data solutions for utility and infrastructure applications.

As part of the partnership, GeoCue is expanding its TrueView lineup with configurations powered by the Ouster Rev8 OS1 Max, which complies with the Build America, Buy America Act. This allows customers subject to domestic production requirements to access a high-performance lidar solution without having to compromise on capabilities.

Following joint flight testing and firmware optimization in Huntsville, Alabama, Ouster and GeoCue selected the Rev8 OS1 Max for its performance advantages. Its smaller spot size and narrower beam enable TrueView systems to accurately detect thin structures, including power lines and structural edges. The sensor also offers an extended operating range of up to 200 meters at 10% reflectivity, allowing operators to fly at higher altitudes around utility corridors while maintaining data quality.

Another key advantage is the Rev8 OS1 Max’s native-color capability, which captures RGB information alongside 3D lidar data and automatically aligns color with each point. Combined with the dual cameras integrated into TrueView payloads, this provides LP360 with an additional RGB reference for registering imagery to point clouds and enables more precise sensor fusion. Furthermore, its 256-channel architecture supports both 2K and 4K modes, helping maintain high point density at faster flight speeds and making the system well suited for long-corridor surveys conducted by both propeller-driven and fixed-wing aircraft. OUST currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).

Recent Partnerships by Other Lidar Manufacturer

In February, Hesai Technology (HSAI - Free Report) announced a strategic partnership with Grab, making Grab the exclusive distributor of Hesai’s lidar products in Southeast Asia. Grab will oversee sales, customer support and marketing, helping Hesai expand access to its lidar sensors across industries, including robotics and autonomous systems.

Aeva Technologies, Inc. (AEVA - Free Report) announced in January that its Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave 4D LiDAR technology was selected for NVIDIA’s DRIVE Hyperion autonomous vehicle reference platform. The integration marks an important milestone for Aeva, strengthening its position as a core LiDAR supplier to global passenger and commercial vehicle OEMs adopting NVIDIA’s autonomous driving architecture.
