Buy 2 Manning & Napier Mutual Funds for Solid Gains

Manning & Napier Inc. is a Rochester, NY-based investment management company. Founded in 1970 by Lawrence Manning and George Napier, Manning & Napier manages a range of mutual funds, consisting of equity, fixed-income and diversified strategies.

The equity strategies use fundamental research and valuation to invest in stocks and utilize factors such as earnings, financial health, growth and valuation in their strategy. The fixed-income strategies use credit, interest rates and return of income in their evaluation to achieve the investment objectives of the fund. The portfolio managers for each fund also evaluate the individual securities as well as the overall risk of the portfolio, making it a reliable investment option.

We have picked two Manning & Napier mutual funds — Manning & Napier High Yield Bond (MHYWX - Free Report) and Manning & Napier Disciplined Value (MDFSX - Free Report) — which investors should buy now for the long term. These funds have a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1 (Strong Buy) or 2 (Buy), with positive three-year and five-year annualized returns, minimum initial investments within $5000 and expense ratios considerably lower than the category average. So, these funds have provided a comparatively stronger performance and carry a lower fee.

Manning & Napier High Yield Bond fund invests most of its assets in bonds rated below investment grade, along with other financial instruments, principally derivatives and ETFs with similar economic characteristics. 

Marc Bushallow has been the lead manager of MHYWX since Sept. 14, 2009. Most of the fund’s holdings were in companies such as Miscellaneous Bond (26.9%), Venture Global, Inc. (2%) and Icahn Enterprises L.P. (1.9%) as of March 31, 2026.

MHYWX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 9.4% and 16.2%, respectively. Its net expense ratio is 0.10%. MHYWX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #1.

Manning & Napier Disciplined Value fund invests its assets in dividend-paying common stocks, principally in mid- to large-capitalization companies.

Liam McMahon has been the lead manager of MDFSX since Oct. 23, 2025. Most of the fund’s holdings were in companies such as Merck & Co., Inc. (3.6%), UnitedHealth Group Inc. (3.4%) and Citigroup Inc. (3.4%) as of April 30, 2026.

 MDFSX’s 3-year and 5-year annualized returns are 14.9% and 9.9%, respectively. Its net expense ratio is 0.82%. MDFSX has a Zacks Mutual Fund Rank #2.
