Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • Astera Labs expands Leo with X-Series and Leo 2 E/P Series for agentic AI and cloud workloads.
  • ALAB's Leo X-Series delivers up to 62% faster time to first token and 22% more tokens per second.
  • ALAB expects Q3 revenues of $540M-$560M, with the midpoint implying about 40% sequential growth.

Astera Labs (ALAB - Free Report) is benefiting from the expansion of its Leo portfolio, strengthening its competitive position against Marvell Technology (MRVL - Free Report) and Credo Technology (CRDO - Free Report) in the rapidly growing AI connectivity market. In the second quarter of 2026, the company reported record revenue growth, driven by strong adoption of its Scorpio AI Fabric Switches, Aries Retimers and Taurus Smart Cable Modules. The Leo CXL memory controller line is gaining traction, with new design wins at major U.S. hyperscalers and expectations for volume shipments in 2027.

The company’s expansion of its Leo CXL memory controller portfolio strengthens its position in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure connectivity market. The company recently expanded its Leo Smart Memory Controller family with the Leo X-Series and Leo 2 E and P Series, targeting agentic AI and general-purpose cloud workloads. The new solutions support fabric-attached GPU memory, CPU-attached memory expansion, and pooled/shared memory architectures.

Leo X-Series can deliver up to 62% faster time to first token and 22% higher tokens per second for KV-cache-intensive AI workloads. Meanwhile, Leo 2 E and P-Series double memory bandwidth and capacity versus the prior generation while supporting PCIe 6 and CXL 3.2. The products are currently sampling with hyperscaler customers.

ALAB’s expanding Leo portfolio, growing hyperscaler traction and broad AI connectivity platform position it well to sustain strong growth despite rising competition from Marvell Technology and Credo Technology. For the third quarter of 2026, revenues are expected to be between $540 million and $560 million. The midpoint implies sequential growth of approximately 40%.

How Competitors Fare Against ALAB

ALAB is facing stiff competition from other industry players, such as Marvell Technology and Credo Technology. Both companies are making strong efforts in the connectivity space.

Marvell Technology is benefiting from strong AI-related demand across its data center portfolio, which represented 79% of total revenues in the second quarter of fiscal 2027. This underscores the growing weight of connectivity, switching and custom silicon in the company’s sales mix. In the second quarter of fiscal 2027, Marvell Technology reported revenues of $2.74 billion, up 36.6% year over year.

Credo Technology’s expanding portfolio has been noteworthy. In August 2026, the company announced that the Toucan Gen6x16 PCIe retimer has achieved PCI-SIG 6.x compliance at 64.0 GT/s and joined the PCI-SIG Integrators List. The certification validates Toucan’s electrical performance, interoperability and PCIe 6.0 protocol capabilities, supporting reliable deployment across AI, high-performance computing, cloud and accelerated computing platforms.

The retimer combines DSP-based SerDes technology, low-power operation and advanced diagnostics through Credo Technology’s PILOT software. The milestone is expected to reduce integration risks, accelerate platform deployment and strengthen Credo Technology’s position in high-speed connectivity solutions for next-generation AI infrastructure.
