New Monterey & Philadelphia routes, plus more flights to 7 U.S. cities, will expand LAX connectivity.
DAL is investing $2.3B in Sky Way at LAX and plans a new 11,000-square-foot Sky Club in 2027.
Delta Air Lines (DAL - Free Report) is strengthening its presence at Los Angeles International Airport (“LAX”) with its largest-ever summer schedule planned for 2027. Together with its partners, the company expects to offer more than 200 daily departures to nearly 70 destinations at the summer peak. The expanded network includes new nonstop service to Monterey and Philadelphia, along with higher frequencies to seven U.S. destinations.
The expansion is supported by significant investments in Delta’s premium airport experience. The company has invested $2.3 billion in its Sky Way at LAX, which connects Terminals 2 and 3 and enhances wayfinding, security processing and terminal amenities. Delta also operates two Delta One Lounges at LAX and plans to open an additional 11,000-square-foot Sky Club in 2027. By 2028, its four dedicated lounge spaces are expected to total more than 60,000 square feet and provide over 1,000 seats.
Delta is also enhancing its onboard premium offerings to complement its airport investments. Beginning Oct. 1, 2026, Delta One customers will receive a new wine portfolio featuring 13 selections, while Domestic First Class passengers can enjoy chef-curated dishes from Jose Andres. The company also offers fast, free Wi-Fi for SkyMiles members and Delta Sync entertainment, supporting an enhanced travel experience across its network.
The broader network expansion should improve connectivity between Los Angeles and several important business and leisure markets. New twice-daily service to Monterey will begin Dec. 19, 2026, while daily Philadelphia service is scheduled to start June 7, 2027. Delta is also increasing flights to Boston, San Diego, Seattle, Raleigh-Durham, Cincinnati, Houston and San Antonio, giving customers greater flexibility while strengthening the carrier’s domestic network from LAX.
Delta’s deepening presence in Los Angeles extends beyond flight capacity and premium offerings. The company employs more than 4,500 people in the Los Angeles area and partners with more than 25 organizations across Southern California in areas including education, workforce development, hunger relief and sustainability. With Los Angeles preparing to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, these investments further expand Delta’s engagement with the region while supporting its long-term growth strategy at a key U.S. gateway.
