Construction Partners, Inc. (ROAD - Free Report) , or CPI, has completed the acquisition of an asphalt manufacturing and construction business, Roads, Inc. of NWF, headquartered in Cantonment, FL.

As part of this strategic transaction, CPI also acquired a hot-mix asphalt plant located north of Pensacola, including related crew and equipment. The acquired operations will become part of ROAD’s Florida platform company, C.W. Roberts Contracting, Incorporated.

Roads, Inc.’s asphalt paving, roadway construction and disaster response debris removal services will complement Construction Partners' available services and expand geographic reach throughout Florida, Alabama and the southeastern United States. Additionally, Roads, Inc.’s hot-mix asphalt plant, experienced workforce, construction expertise and strong local relationships will complement CWR’s existing operations, enhancing its ability to serve customers throughout the Florida Panhandle and surrounding markets.

ROAD stock climbed 1.1% during yesterday’s after-hours trading session, following the acquisition announcement.

Construction Partners’ Acquisition Efforts

Construction Partners’ acquisition strategy is adding scale without diluting the broader margin profile, supported by vertical integration and local market execution. On Aug. 31, 2026, the company announced the acquisition of Asphalt Express Enterprises, LLC, a liquid asphalt supply and hauling business based in Ardmore, OK. The deal expands the company’s asphalt supply and transportation capabilities across Oklahoma and North Texas.

Besides, Construction Partners described recent acquisitions such as Durwood Greene, GMJ and Ellsworth as well-run businesses with good-margin backlogs. Through the first nine months of fiscal 2026, gross margin improved to 15.1% from 14.6% in the prior-year period, helped by efficient utilization of plants, terminals and equipment.

With fiscal 2026 acquisitive growth expected to contribute about 22% at the guidance midpoint and $140 million of acquired revenues carrying into fiscal 2027, M&A remains a meaningful forward growth lever.

CPI is currently dealing with balance-sheet sensitivity and unfavorable interest costs due to its ongoing acquisition strategy. This is because the model requires steady cash investment in deals, equipment and materials, which can limit flexibility when debt reduction and expansion compete for capital.

Nonetheless, the healthy demand trends across CPI’s Sunbelt markets, aided by public infrastructure funding, recurring repair work and expanding commercial opportunities, are boding well. Also, vertical integration and better use of plants and equipment are helping the business scale profitably in the upcoming term.
