BlackBerry Expands SDV Reach With Alloy Kore Design Win
Read MoreHide Full Article
Key Takeaways
BlackBerry's Alloy Kore secured its first design win as Coretura's SDV software foundation.
Alloy Kore aims to cut integration work, speed development cycles and streamline certification.
BlackBerry expects fiscal Q2 QNX revenue of $70-$75 million and adjusted EBITDA of $16-$21 million.
BlackBerry Limited (BB - Free Report) is strengthening its position in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) as its QNX business and Alloy Kore platform gain traction in the commercial vehicle market. Vector, a leading ecosystem partner for software-defined systems, and BlackBerry’s QNX division announced that Coretura, an SDV platform company founded by Daimler Truck and Volvo Group, has selected Alloy Kore as the foundational software layer for its next-generation software-defined commercial vehicles. The agreement marks the first design win for Alloy Kore and supports Coretura’s efforts to establish a common software foundation for commercial vehicles.
Coretura is developing an SDV platform based on one platform and one standard. As part of its architecture, the company selected Alloy Kore as the safety-certified software platform foundation targeted at high-performance computing (HPC) in commercial vehicles. The platform is designed to help vehicle manufacturers develop, deploy and continuously enhance vehicle capabilities through software updates, while enabling engineering teams to focus on applications that provide differentiation.
Alloy Kore combines a safety-certified real-time operating system with a pre-integrated set of common automotive system services into a scalable software foundation for HPC. By bringing these capabilities together, the platform is designed to reduce integration requirements, accelerate development cycles and streamline certification efforts. This allows original equipment manufacturers to focus more of their engineering resources on application-level differentiation.
Coretura selected Alloy Kore through the Vector Distribution, a ready-to-use implementation of the platform. Built on the Alloy Kore architecture, the distribution combines the automotive operating system foundation with Vector’s middleware, communication and integration capabilities for high-performance computing environments. For Coretura, this provides a validated and production-ready software environment that can be adapted to the requirements of its commercial vehicle platform while maintaining a consistent software foundation across development programs.
The design win also aligns with BlackBerry’s strategy of expanding QNX beyond its traditional operating system role toward a broader platform position. On its first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings call, BlackBerry stated that Alloy Kore could increase software content per vehicle, expand average selling prices and support backlog growth as programs move into production.
For the fiscal second quarter, BlackBerry expects QNX revenue of $70-$75 million and adjusted EBITDA of $16-$21 million, while total company revenue is expected to range between $137 million and $148 million. BlackBerry is slated to release its second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on Sept. 24, 2026.

Record net new ARR and deeper Flex adoption point to healthy demand and improving customer expansion. At the same time, fiscal 2027 revenue growth is expected to be below CrowdStrike’s earlier hypergrowth years, while sales, R&D and stock-based compensation remain elevated. For fiscal 2027, revenues are projected between $5.991 billion and $6.011 billion, with ARR of $6.60 billion to $6.61 billion.
Aptiv PLC (APTV - Free Report) is being supported by smart architecture capabilities, portfolio diversification and strong capital allocation. Its Engineered Components business benefited from higher volumes and operating execution, delivering 3% adjusted revenue growth and a 22.4% adjusted EBITDA margin in the second quarter of 2026. Non-automotive revenue increased 12%, supported by growth in robotics, drones, energy storage and commercial vehicles. Aptiv secured its first commercial robotics award and a drone program with more than $500 million in lifetime revenue. The company is also expanding through acquisitions in optical solutions and automotive capabilities.
