Key Takeaways

  • Block's Square adds Apple Business integration to sync listings and drive commerce through Apple services.
  • Cash App's Workday deal lets eligible U.S. employees select it for direct deposits starting Oct. 1.
  • Block had 9.4 million Cash App Primary Banking Actives in Q2 2026, up 17% year over year.

Block (XYZ - Free Report) is expanding the reach of its two major ecosystems, Square and Cash App, through separate integrations with Apple and Workday. Square has introduced an Apple Business integration that allows eligible sellers to manage and synchronize their business information across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet and other Apple services directly from Square Dashboard. Separately, Cash App has partnered with Workday to simplify direct deposit enrollment for U.S. employees, strengthening its push to become a primary financial platform for modern earners.

The Apple Business integration is designed to enhance Square sellers’ visibility and reduce the operational burden of maintaining business listings across multiple channels. Sellers can manage branding, logos, operating hours, addresses and phone numbers through Square Dashboard, with updates automatically synchronized across connected Apple services. Businesses can also add action links for ordering, pickup, delivery, bookings or appointments directly to their Apple Maps place cards, potentially converting customer discovery into transactions. Square noted that claimed Apple Maps locations receive 30% more views, while action links have generated 31% higher click-through rates across website, call and other action buttons.

The integration is available across Square’s eight supported markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, and complements Square’s broader strategy of helping merchants get discovered across emerging customer channels. The company has also recently integrated with AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude.

Cash App’s partnership with Workday will enable eligible U.S. employees to select Cash App as their direct deposit destination through Workday’s Enhanced Direct Deposit experience beginning Oct. 1. Given Workday’s reach across millions of U.S. employees, the integration provides Cash App with another distribution channel to attract paycheck deposits and deepen customer engagement. Cash App had 9.4 million Primary Banking Actives in the second quarter of 2026, up 17% year over year, indicating continued traction among customers using the platform for broader banking and money-management needs.

Together, the Apple and Workday partnerships highlight Block’s strategy of embedding its products into widely used consumer and enterprise platforms. The Apple integration could help Square improve merchant engagement and transaction opportunities by linking business discovery more directly with commerce, while the Workday partnership may support Cash App’s efforts to attract higher-quality, more engaged banking customers through direct deposit. Over time, deeper integrations across both ecosystems could support increased customer retention, transaction volumes and monetization opportunities for Block.
