Key Takeaways

  • Tesla has doubled its Austin Cybercab fleet to more than 100 vehicles, expanding Robotaxi operations.
  • Cybercab availability rose from 58 to 125 vehicles between Sept. 21 and Sept. 25, 2026.

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA - Free Report) has doubled the size of its Cybercab fleet operating under its Robotaxi program in Austin, TX, to more than 100 vehicles over the weekend.

The expansion adds more steering-wheel-free and pedal-free Cybercabs to Tesla’s ride-hailing service and strengthens the overall size of its Robotaxi fleet, per Teslarati. Riders reportedly received notifications through the Robotaxi app stating that the “Cybercab fleet has doubled: more rides available.”

Tesla began offering Cybercab rides in early September, although its broader Robotaxi service has been operating for more than a year, with initial rides starting last summer. The Cybercab represents a significant milestone for Tesla, as the two-seat vehicle is specifically designed for fully autonomous operation without requiring human intervention.

For now, Cybercab rides are limited to Austin, though the vehicles have been spotted undergoing testing across several U.S. states and regions. Tesla has indicated plans to expand Cybercab deployments to additional U.S. cities in the coming months, assuming the rollout progresses as planned.

Cybercab availability increased from 58 vehicles on Sept. 21, 2026, to 125 on Sept. 25, 2026, marking a substantial fleet expansion. The additional vehicles could help address previously lengthy wait times, particularly for Cybercab rides.

The rapid increase in fleet size also indicates Tesla’s growing confidence in its driverless ride-hailing operations. In particular, the expansion suggests the company believes its Full Self-Driving software can manage a broad range of traffic conditions without direct human control or supervision.
