EMCOR's Five Electrical Acquisitions: Can They Boost AI Reach?

Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • EMCOR's five acquisitions expand its AI infrastructure and data center reach.
  • The $750 million deals add $625 million in revenues and $105 million in EBITDA.
  • EMCOR expects $250-$275 million in revenues during the second half of 2026.

EMCOR Group (EME - Free Report) is strengthening its Electrical Construction business through five strategic acquisitions aimed at expanding its geographic presence, technical capabilities and exposure to high-growth markets, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and data centers.

The acquisitions include B&B Electric, Sidney Electric, Giles Electric, Schmidt Electric and Connelly Electric. Collectively, these businesses generated approximately $625 million in revenues and $105 million in EBITDA during the trailing 12 months ended June 2026. Their combined upfront purchase price is approximately $750 million.

Acquisitions Expand EMCOR's Data Center Opportunities

B&B Electric strengthens EMCOR's industrial contracting capabilities in Wisconsin, while Sidney Electric enhances its presence in Ohio, particularly across industrial and healthcare markets. Giles Electric expands the company's reach into Florida's growing markets.

Schmidt Electric provides access to Central Texas and Austin, where EMCOR sees opportunities to leverage existing customer relationships to pursue data center projects. Similarly, Connelly Electric adds design-build expertise and strengthens EMCOR's positioning in Chicago's expanding data center market.

These acquisitions should support cross-selling, broaden customer relationships and enhance EMCOR's ability to undertake complex electrical projects across additional geographies.

Will Acquisitions Strengthen EMCOR's Growth Outlook?

Management expects the five acquisitions to contribute $250-$275 million in revenues during the second half of 2026. However, acquisition-related intangible asset amortization and lower net interest income are expected to limit near-term EPS accretion.

The earnings contribution should improve as backlog amortization rolls off over the following 12-18 months.

Overall, these acquisitions strengthen EMCOR's long-term AI infrastructure prospects, although successful integration and project execution remain important to realizing their full benefits.

EME Faces Competition From Comfort Systems and Quanta Services

Comfort Systems USA (FIX - Free Report) is expanding its electrical and mechanical capabilities to capitalize on growing AI infrastructure and data center demand. Comfort Systems' acquisitions of Hunt Electric, Feyen Zylstra and Meisner Electric have strengthened its electrical contracting capabilities and geographic reach.

Comfort Systems reported 81.2% growth in Electrical segment revenues during the second quarter of 2026, supported by acquisitions and strong technology-sector demand. The company’s expanding electrical backlog and modular construction capabilities position it to pursue larger, more complex data center projects.

Quanta Services (PWR - Free Report) is also strengthening its position through strategic acquisitions. Quanta's acquisitions of Phalcon and Enerfab complement its existing electrical, mechanical and fabrication capabilities, developed through earlier transactions involving Cupertino Electric, Dynamic Systems and Tri-City Group.

Phalcon expands Quanta's electrical capabilities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, supporting opportunities in data centers and mission-critical facilities. Quanta's integrated construction platform strengthens its competitive position in AI infrastructure development.
