Ondas and Palantir Launch Regna AI to Expand Sovereign AI Capabilities

Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • Ondas and Palantir form Regna AI to develop mission-specific AI models for defense and enterprise operations.
  • Regna AI will use Palantir's AIP to deploy sovereign AI models across ISR platforms and autonomous systems.
  • Ondas will be Regna AI's first customer, with plans to expand into defense, security and industrial markets.

Ondas Inc. (ONDS - Free Report) and Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR - Free Report) have announced the formation of Regna AI, a standalone private company focused on developing and deploying mission-specific AI models within customer-controlled environments. Initially wholly owned by Ondas and supported by Palantir's technology, Regna AI aims to help governments, defense organizations and enterprises adopt sovereign AI solutions for mission-critical operations.

Ondas will become Regna AI's first customer, deploying specialized AI models to coordinate autonomous missions directly on edge devices. The venture will also serve other government agencies, businesses and institutions seeking greater control over their AI infrastructure and sensitive operational data. Palantir will provide model-training infrastructure and deployment support, while both companies collaborate on engineering solutions tailored to customer requirements.

Regna AI's models are designed to operate across intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, including drones, stratospheric balloons, ground vehicles and surface vessels. They will also support command-and-control systems, enabling operations in environments with limited or disrupted connectivity. These capabilities will help personnel evaluate intelligence, assess alternatives and recommend mission adjustments, subject to human review and authorization.

The initiative builds on Ondas and Palantir's existing partnership on SkyWeaver, an AI-enabled command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) platform connecting surveillance capabilities across multiple domains. On its second-quarter 2026 earnings call, Ondas highlighted successful ground and aerial testing of SkyWeaver, marking progress toward integrating AI-driven intelligence and autonomous operations across its portfolio.

Regna AI will leverage Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) and open-weight models to help customers develop specialized AI capabilities without incurring the substantial costs of building foundational models independently. By allowing institutions to retain control over their models and mission data, the venture seeks to address growing concerns surrounding data sovereignty and dependence on commercial AI providers.

Ondas expects to collaborate with Palantir to expand Regna AI's platform and support initial customer deployments over the coming months. While ISR applications will provide the initial focus, the company plans to extend its capabilities into additional defense missions, security, critical infrastructure and industrial markets, potentially broadening Ondas' long-term growth opportunities.
