  • DOW integrates sodium-ion, silicon-anode and solid-state technologies with room for innovation.

Dow Inc. (DOW - Free Report) recently launched VOLTRICELL, a new battery cell materials platform designed to optimize battery manufacturing and improve performance. The platform expands Dow’s battery solutions portfolio and strengthens its presence in the industry.

Dow, which is among the leading companies in the chemical space, along with DuPont de Nemours, Inc. (DD - Free Report) , Eastman Chemical Company (EMN - Free Report) and Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (APD - Free Report) , aims to bring together materials for electrodes, separators, coatings and battery cell packaging, including binders, dispersants, rheology modifiers, surfactants and specialty additives, through VOLTRICELL. These materials are designed to support higher energy density, longer cycle life, faster charging and scalable manufacturing. The platform integrates emerging technologies such as sodium-ion, silicon-anode and solid-state batteries.

The new launch will be complemented by VORAFORCE TP1415 polyurethane resin for lightweight, flame-retardant composites, DOWSIL EF-6559 silicone foam for thermal management and electrical insulation, and DOWSIL FC-2024 coating for protecting battery housings and enclosures during thermal events.

The introduction of VOLTRICELL supports growth by addressing manufacturers’ demand for materials that improve battery performance, safety and production scalability across the battery value chain. It builds on its deep materials science expertise and application development capabilities to foster innovation.

For the second half of 2026, management plans to focus on growth and innovation in attractive end markets, investments to strengthen the portfolio and balanced capital allocation. Dow expects the growth and productivity benefits from Transform to Outperform to accelerate through the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. Dow expects approximately $200 million in additional benefits from Transform to Outperform during 2026. This raises the company’s expected total in-year benefits from self-help initiatives to more than $1.3 billion.

Another industry leader, DuPont, raised the midpoint of its full-year 2026 operating EBITDA and adjusted earnings guidance. The company now expects net sales in the range of $7.16-$7.19 billion, operating EBITDA between $1.75 billion and $1.77 billion and adjusted earnings of $7.17-$7.32 per share. The outlook reflects continued strength across healthcare, industrial water and aerospace end markets. Management expects mid-single-digit organic sales growth in the second half and remains focused on productivity, profitable growth and shareholder value creation.

Eastman, on its second-quarter call, said that it expects earnings to improve significantly from 2025. The company remains on track to deliver cost reductions of $125 million to $150 million, net of inflation. For the third quarter, adjusted earnings are projected to approach the second-quarter level of $1.97 per share. Advanced Materials EBIT is expected to increase on improved price-cost and asset utilization, while Fibers earnings should benefit from higher acetate tow purchases. Additives & Functional Products earnings are expected to decline modestly due to seasonal agriculture weakness, while Chemical Intermediates earnings are projected to ease as supply-chain disruptions lessen.

Air Products, for fiscal 2026, raised its adjusted earnings guidance to $13.39-$13.49 per share from the prior range of $13-$13.25. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, Air Products expects adjusted earnings of $3.55-$3.65 per share. The company now anticipates fiscal 2026 capital expenditures of approximately $3.5 billion, below its earlier projection of about $4 billion. Management expects new asset contributions, pricing actions and productivity initiatives to support performance, while remaining cautious because of macroeconomic uncertainty.
