IPAR's Q3 Sales Flat at $430M as Europe Growth Offsets US Decline

Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • IPAR's Q3 sales remained flat at $430M as 4% European growth offset a 7% decline in U.S. operations.
  • Coach sales surged 23%, while Montblanc gained 12%, driven by strong fragrance demand and new launches
  • Delayed giftset shipments shifted $10M in U.S. sales to Q4, while IPAR plans major 2027 fragrance launches.

Interparfums, Inc. (IPAR - Free Report) reported net sales of $430 million for the third quarter of 2026, unchanged from the year-ago period. Strong performance across European operations and sustained demand for several key fragrance brands helped offset softness in the U.S. business. For the first nine months of 2026, consolidated net sales increased 1% year over year to $1,115 million from $1,102 million. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East created a 1% sales headwind in the quarter and a 2% impact during the first nine months.

Interparfums' European Business Drives Sales Growth

European-based operations remained a key growth driver, with third-quarter sales increasing 4% to $306 million from $295 million in the prior-year period. The improvement reflected 3% organic growth and a 1% contribution from new brands, partially offset by a 1% currency headwind. Sales for the first nine months advanced 1% to $789 million.

The European business benefited from healthy demand across established fragrance brands and recent product introductions. Coach sales surged 23% in the quarter and 15% in the nine months, supported by its popular fragrance collections and new line extensions.

Montblanc recorded 12% quarterly growth, driven by the successful launches of Legend Elixir and Explorer Infinite. Jimmy Choo sales improved 1%, reflecting continued demand for its established franchises and recent innovations.

Lacoste fragrances returned to growth, registering a 4% sales increase in the quarter, aided by the Original Intense launch. However, year-to-date sales declined 9%, reflecting difficult prior-year comparisons and softer demand in Eastern Europe. The quarterly improvement indicates encouraging progress following a challenging first half.

IPAR's US Sales Decline Amid Shipment Delays

U.S.-based operations witnessed a 7% sales decline to $127 million from $137 million a year earlier. Supply-chain disruptions delayed approximately $10 million in giftset shipments, shifting the related sales into the fourth quarter. Excluding these delays, quarterly sales would have remained unchanged. Despite the setback, nine-month sales increased 3% to $336 million, supported by 2% organic growth and a favorable currency movement of 1%. Excluding the impact of the delayed giftset shipments, sales would have increased 6%.

Performance across the U.S. brand portfolio remained mixed. GUESS fragrance sales increased 3% in the quarter and 7% in the first nine months of 2026, supported by continued momentum in the Iconic franchise and product extensions. Roberto Cavalli sales advanced 4% in the quarter, supported by sustained demand for Serpentine fragrances, new product extensions and its partnership with Kiko Milano.

However, Donna Karan/DKNY fragrance sales declined 9% in the quarter due to innovation phasing and delayed giftset shipments. Ferragamo sales decreased 22% due to innovation phasing and tough conditions in its core European markets. Despite these quarterly setbacks, Donna Karan/DKNY recorded 4% year-to-date growth, while Ferragamo's nine-month sales dropped just 2%.

What's Ahead for Interparfums?

Interparfums remains cautiously optimistic about the remainder of 2026 and beyond. The company is focusing on new licensing partnerships, brand additions and major fragrance launches planned for 2027. The upcoming holiday season and the recognition of delayed giftset shipments in the fourth quarter are important developments to watch. Although regional weakness and geopolitical pressures remain concerns, the resilience of established brands and continued product innovation provide a foundation for future growth.
