Texas Instruments Incorporated (TXN - Free Report) emphasized strengthening semiconductor demand, expanding manufacturing capacity and improving profitability during its third-quarter 2026 earnings call. Management highlighted broad-based growth across industrial, automotive and data center markets.

CEO Haviv Ilan attributed the momentum to a combination of cyclical recovery and increasing semiconductor content in customer applications. The company is prioritizing capacity expansion to support demand while maintaining its focus on long-term free cash flow growth.

TXN Earnings Beat Estimates Amid Broad Demand

Texas Instruments reported third-quarter earnings of $2.62 per share, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.40. Revenues reached $6.06 billion, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5.93 billion. Earnings increased 77% year over year, while revenues rose 28%.

Gross margin reached 64%, improving 280 basis points sequentially. CFO Julie Knecht attributed the improvement primarily to higher revenues, alongside pricing, factory utilization and product mix benefits.

Analog revenues grew 32% year over year, while Embedded Processing increased 21%. Both businesses recorded sequential growth, reflecting strengthening demand across the portfolio.

TI Sees Above-Seasonal Demand in Q4

Management projected fourth-quarter revenues between $5.8 billion and $6.3 billion, with earnings per share ranging from $2.45 to $2.79.

Responding to a Bernstein analyst's question about unusually strong seasonal expectations, Ilan identified industrial, automotive and data center as the principal contributors to the outlook.

Ilan emphasized that data center demand remains strong without meaningful seasonal fluctuations. Industrial momentum and improving automotive orders provide additional support for the company's near-term revenue expectations.

TXN Industrial Recovery Gains Momentum

Industrial revenues increased more than 40% year over year and approximately 10% sequentially. Ilan noted that the business had surpassed its previous revenue peak from third-quarter 2022.

During discussions with a Wolfe Research analyst, Ilan highlighted increasing semiconductor content across industrial equipment, alongside the company's expanding product portfolio.

Management identified aerospace and defense, energy infrastructure, robotics and test and measurement as important growth areas. Ilan also emphasized that industrial applications offer attractive margins, customer diversity and product longevity.

TI Data Center Growth Expands Opportunities

Data center revenues surged approximately 95% year over year and 20% sequentially, representing roughly 13% of third-quarter revenues.

In response to a Stifel analyst, Ilan explained that growing power density, cooling requirements and efficiency demands are expanding semiconductor opportunities. Texas Instruments supplies approximately 10,000 different generic part numbers into this market.

Ilan also discussed early production ramp-ups of application-specific products at the Sherman facility. Management expects continued opportunities from expanding data center investments and a broader portfolio of semiconductor solutions.

TXN Capacity Investments and Pricing Take Focus

Management highlighted its manufacturing investments as an advantage amid tightening industry capacity. Ilan noted that limited analog capacity additions outside China and Taiwan have strengthened the company's competitive positioning.

Answering a JPMorgan analyst's pricing question, Ilan acknowledged modest price improvements in Analog during the second half of 2026. Customer negotiations for 2027 are underway, with further details expected in January.

The company anticipates 2026 capital expenditures between $2 billion and $3 billion, potentially toward the upper end. Ilan also cited expanding equipment lead times and the rapid ramp of its Malaysian assembly and test facility.

TI Maintains Focus on Cash Generation

Management maintained a constructive outlook while acknowledging equipment availability and execution requirements associated with capacity expansion.

Knecht reported trailing 12-month free cash flow of $8.4 billion and shareholder returns of $5.8 billion. Ilan reiterated that sustainable free cash flow per share growth remains the company's central long-term objective.
