Ultra Clean Holdings, Inc. (UCTT - Free Report) reported third-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings of $1.15 per share, which increased 379.2% year over year and surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 91 cents by 26.4%. Revenues increased 48.8% year over year to $759 million and beat the consensus estimate of $725.45 million by 4.6%.

Ultra Clean's Services Business Maintains Growth

Services revenues increased 18.6% year over year to $77.1 million from $65 million. Sequentially, revenues advanced 6.7%, supported by strength across original equipment manufacturer and semiconductor fabrication customers.

The segment provides precision cleaning, coating and contamination-analysis services. Management expects Services revenues to increase gradually as new U.S. fabrication facilities begin operations, with larger contributions anticipated as wafer production increases throughout 2027 and 2028.

UCTT's Margins Improve on Higher Volumes

Non-GAAP gross margin expanded to 17.3% from 17% a year earlier. Sequentially, gross margin increased 60 basis points from 16.7%, benefiting from higher manufacturing volumes and stronger contributions from higher-margin product lines.

Products gross margin improved to 15.9% from 15.1% in the preceding quarter, while Services gross margin increased to 30.1% from 28.9%.

Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 9% from 5.7% a year earlier and 7% in the preceding quarter. Operating expenses totaled $62.9 million, representing 8.3% of revenues compared with 9.7% in the second quarter. Adjusted net income increased to $53.2 million from $11 million a year ago.

Management maintained its longer-term objective of achieving 20% gross margin at approximately $4 billion in annual revenues. Higher utilization, vertical integration and an improved product mix remain central to this target.

Ultra Clean Accelerates Manufacturing Expansion

Ultra Clean brought 26,000 square feet of additional clean-room capacity online in Malaysia ahead of schedule, contributing to its third-quarter outperformance. The company plans to double weldment manufacturing capacity in Cebu, Philippines, while adding clean-room capacity in Singapore and the Czech Republic.

Management expects to reach approximately $4 billion in annualized manufacturing capacity during the first quarter of 2027. Existing operations also provide 15-20% additional burst capacity to accommodate demand fluctuations.

The company anticipates incremental investments of $80 million to $100 million through 2027 and 2028 to support expansion toward more than $5 billion in annual capacity.

Under its UCT 3.0 strategy, Ultra Clean secured eight new product development program wins across etch, deposition and lithography applications. These initiatives aim to increase engineered content per semiconductor manufacturing tool.

UCTT's Cash Flow Reflects Inventory Investments

Operating cash flow was negative $42.3 million during the quarter, reflecting increased working capital requirements associated with accelerating customer demand.

Inventories reached $723.3 million, increasing $93.4 million sequentially as the company accumulated critical components and maintained safety stocks to address potential supply-chain disruptions.

Cash and cash equivalents totaled $270.9 million at quarter-end compared with $255.9 million in the preceding quarter.

UCTT also generated approximately $34 million in net proceeds through its at-the-market equity offering during the quarter. An additional $169.1 million was raised in early October, with part of the proceeds used to repay outstanding revolving credit borrowings.

Ultra Clean Issues Strong Q4 Guidance

For the fourth quarter of 2026, Ultra Clean expects revenues between $800 million and $860 million. The midpoint implies sequential revenue growth of approximately 9.4%.

The company projects non-GAAP earnings per share between $1.11 and $1.35, based on approximately 48.9 million diluted shares. GAAP earnings  per share are expected between $1.02 and $1.26.

Management expects wafer fabrication equipment spending to exceed $200 billion in 2027, supported by investments in AI, advanced logic and memory manufacturing.

However, supply-chain constraints remain a concern. Management indicated that mass flow controller shortages could persist for another one or two quarters. Customer concentration also remains significant, with the company's two largest customers accounting for 61% of quarterly revenues.
