Amphenol Corporation Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

APH Raises Outlook on Sustained Demand

Management projected fourth-quarter revenues of $10.3 billion to $10.5 billion, representing 60% to 63% year-over-year growth. Adjusted earnings are expected between 81 cents and 83 cents per share.

For 2026, Amphenol expects revenues of $36.9 billion to $37.1 billion and adjusted earnings of $2.82 to $2.84 per share.

Norwitt noted that guidance assumes stable market conditions and exchange rates. The outlook excludes acquisitions awaiting closure, maintaining visibility into existing operations.

Amphenol Sees AI Driving Datacom Expansion

The IT datacom market represented 48% of third-quarter sales, with revenues growing 117% year over year and 77% organically. Sequential growth reached 30%, substantially exceeding management's initial expectations.

Norwitt attributed most sequential growth to AI applications, which now account for approximately three-quarters of IT datacom revenues. Management anticipates mid-single-digit sequential growth in the fourth quarter.

During the Q&A, an Evercore ISI analyst questioned whether the unexpected strength reflected accelerated shipments or higher customer demand. Norwitt clarified that there was no material pull-forward of business, emphasizing execution against sustained customer requirements.

APH Benefits From CommScope Integration

Amphenol raised its 2026 CommScope revenue expectation to $5.1 billion from $4.6 billion. Expected adjusted earnings accretion increased to 18 cents per share from 15 cents.

Norwitt attributed the stronger outlook to data center demand, improved operational flexibility and expanded access to capital. The acquired business continues investing in technology and manufacturing capacity.

Responding to a JPMorgan analyst's profitability question, CFO Craig Lampo said CommScope's operating margin had reached the low-20% range. Management sees potential for profitability to approach Amphenol's corporate average over time.

Amphenol Navigates Diverging End-Market Trends

Industrial sales increased 60% year over year, including 25% organic growth. Norwitt highlighted broad-based demand across automation, electrification, instrumentation and energy applications.

Defense sales advanced 42%, supported by increasing electronics content and military modernization. Commercial air and automotive markets also expanded, reflecting aircraft production growth and electric vehicle demand.

Communications networks presented a contrasting picture, with organic sales declining 28%. Norwitt expects further sequential weakness in the fourth quarter, particularly from reduced broadband spending.

APH Maintains Margin and Investment Discipline

Adjusted operating margin reached 29.7%, expanding 220 basis points year over year. Lampo attributed the improvement to operating leverage, disciplined cost management and higher-value technology offerings.

During the Q&A, a Goldman Sachs analyst questioned the scope for further margin expansion. Lampo maintained the company's long-term incremental margin framework while acknowledging that acquisitions can temporarily dilute profitability.

Management also discussed capital spending requirements. Lampo retained the historical 3% to 4% capital expenditure framework, although exceptionally strong growth could push spending modestly above that range.

Amphenol Focuses on Execution and Flexibility

Management's overarching message emphasized sustaining growth through technological differentiation, customer responsiveness and disciplined acquisitions. Record orders of $12.2 billion reinforced visibility into demand across most markets.

Norwitt nevertheless stressed maintaining organizational flexibility amid rapid expansion. Management continues prioritizing capacity investment, supply availability and the ability to respond quickly to changing customer requirements.
