Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMY - Free Report) raised its 2026 revenue outlook following sustained Growth Portfolio momentum while emphasizing pipeline execution and financial discipline during its third-quarter earnings call.

Management highlighted recent clinical successes and upcoming regulatory catalysts, but analysts pressed executives on drug commercialization, clinical uncertainties and the company's ability to navigate approaching patent expirations.

BMY Raises Revenue Outlook Despite Earnings Pressure

Chief financial officer David Elkins raised 2026 revenue guidance to $49.75-$50.25 billion from $49-$50 billion, citing stronger year-to-date execution and portfolio momentum.

However, non-GAAP earnings guidance declined to $6.35-$6.55 per share from $6.75-$7.00, incorporating a $0.60 per-share impact from acquired in-process research and development charges and licensing income.

Elkins noted that excluding third-quarter transaction-related impacts, the guidance midpoint would have increased approximately $0.15. Management maintained gross margin and operating expense assumptions.

The company reported quarterly earnings of $1.35 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.21. Third-quarter revenues of $13.07 billion surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $12.56 billion.

Bristol Myers Sees Broad-Based Portfolio Momentum

Elkins reported Growth Portfolio revenues of $7.7 billion, up 12%, supported by Reblozyl, Breyanzi, Camzyos and Opdivo Qvantig.

Opdivo Qvantig generated $334 million, representing 28% sequential growth. Chief commercialization officer Adam Lenkowsky told a Citigroup analyst that approximately 17% of intravenous Opdivo business had converted to Qvantig, with conversion tracking toward the higher end of management's 30%-40% target.

Meanwhile, Eliquis revenues increased 25% to $4.69 billion. Management maintained its 20%-25% full-year growth outlook but expects European patent expiration to create a $1.5-$2 billion revenue decline in 2027.

BMY Advances Multiple Late-Stage Pipeline Programs

Chairman and CEO Christopher Boerner highlighted positive registrational results involving Zenbexus, admilparant, RYZ101 and arlo-cel, reinforcing management's emphasis on developing differentiated medicines.

Zenbexus received FDA approval in August. Lenkowsky described encouraging initial physician adoption across community and hospital settings, with additional progression-free survival data scheduled for presentation in December.

Boerner also identified upcoming milvexian results in secondary stroke prevention and Sotyktu lupus studies as important near-term catalysts. Milvexian's atrial fibrillation readout remains scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Bristol Myers Addresses Clinical and Launch Concerns

A UBS analyst questioned admilparant's higher-dose results after the 120-milligram dose failed to achieve statistical significance in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Chief medical officer Cristian Massacesi emphasized the statistically significant results at 60 milligrams and favorable tolerability. He acknowledged that the company continues evaluating the higher-dose findings ahead of additional pulmonary fibrosis data.

Separately, a Wells Fargo analyst questioned Cobenfy's commercial trajectory. Lenkowsky acknowledged challenges accelerating new patient starts and repeat prescribing, alongside physician education on effective dosing. Inventory reductions also weighed on quarterly revenues.

BMY Maintains Discipline Across Spending and Deals

Elkins highlighted approximately $13 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities and $4.2 billion in quarterly operating cash flow.

Management remains on track to achieve $2 billion in productivity efficiencies by the end of 2027, supporting investment flexibility amid portfolio transitions.

Responding to Goldman Sachs and BMO Capital Markets analysts, Boerner reiterated that business development remains a capital allocation priority. He emphasized scientific alignment, strategic fit and financial returns rather than transaction size.

Bristol Myers Focuses on Sustainable Growth

Boerner characterized the quarter as evidence of improving commercial execution and advancing pipeline productivity, while maintaining attention on operational efficiency.

Management's priorities center on sustaining Growth Portfolio momentum, converting clinical achievements into launches and managing legacy-product erosion. Upcoming clinical readouts remain central to the company's long-term growth strategy.
