Factors Likely to Have Shaped CDE's Q3 Performance

In the second quarter of 2026, Coeur Mining produced 163,490 ounces of gold, 4.4 million ounces of silver and 11.4 million pounds of copper. Gold production increased 51% year over year, primarily reflecting the first full-quarter contribution from New Afton and Rainy River, acquired through the New Gold transaction. The two mines are expected to provide a more meaningful contribution to third-quarter results as Coeur Mining continues to integrate the operations and ramp up production.

The company expects its five legacy operations to achieve their full-year 2026 production guidance. At the midpoint of the guided ranges, gold production at Rochester and Las Chispas is projected to increase 33% and 10% year over year, respectively. In contrast, output at Wharf, Kensington and Palmarejo is expected to decline 17%, 2% and 1%, respectively. Nevertheless, aggregate gold production from these five operations is projected to increase 1% at the midpoint of the guided ranges.

The silver production outlook is also largely favorable. At the midpoint of the 2026 guided ranges, silver output at Rochester, Las Chispas and Palmarejo is expected to increase 17%, 15% and 2%, respectively. These gains are likely to have offset the anticipated 8% decline in production at Wharf. Overall, the midpoint of Coeur's total silver production guidance indicates an 11% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, New Afton is expected to produce 40-50 million pounds of copper in 2026.

Overall, Coeur Mining is expected to report higher production and sales volumes for gold, silver and copper in the third quarter of 2026. Higher realized precious metals prices should provide an additional tailwind. Gold and silver prices remained well above their year-ago levels during the July-September period, creating a favorable pricing environment for Coeur Mining.

In the second quarter, gold and silver accounted for 64% and 30% of the company's revenues, respectively, while copper contributed the remaining 6%. This diversified exposure should enable Coeur Mining to benefit from favorable trends across the precious metals and copper markets. The projected 91.4% year-over-year revenue growth for the third quarter reflects the substantially larger production base following the New Gold acquisition, as well as higher commodity prices.

However, elevated operating costs could limit the improvement in profitability. In the second quarter, adjusted costs applicable to sales (CAS) increased to $2,442 per gold ounce from $1,405 in the year-ago quarter. Silver CAS also rose to $22.99 per ounce from $16.48. In addition, higher general, administrative and exploration expenses anticipated for full-year 2026 are likely to have weighed on third-quarter earnings. These cost pressures are expected to have partly offset the benefits of higher production and favorable metal prices, potentially limiting earnings growth despite the sharp projected increase in revenues.
