MPWR's AI Power Boom Accelerates as Enterprise Data Sales Surge 164.6%

Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • MPWR's Enterprise Data revenues surged 164.6% year over year, reaching 42.1% of third-quarter revenues.
  • AI power-module demand and customer growth led MPWR to raise its 2026 Enterprise Data growth floor to 150%.
  • MPWR targets $8 billion in annual revenue-supporting capacity by late 2027 amid rising AI exposure.

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. (MPWR - Free Report) is becoming increasingly tied to the buildout of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Third-quarter 2026 Enterprise Data revenues surged 164.6% year over year as demand for AI and server power solutions accelerated.

That growth is reshaping MPWR’s revenue mix and supporting operating leverage. It also raises a key question for investors: how durable can the current AI-driven expansion remain as Enterprise Data becomes a larger share of the business?

MPWR’s Enterprise Data Growth Reshapes the Mix

Enterprise Data generated $506.7 million in third-quarter revenues, up 33.2% sequentially and 164.6% year over year. The segment accounted for 42.1% of total revenues, compared with 38.8% in the second quarter.

The shift makes AI and server power applications materially more important to MPWR’s growth profile. Total third-quarter revenues rose 63.1% year over year to $1.20 billion, while non-GAAP operating margin expanded 320 basis points to 38.6% as sales grew faster than operating expenses.

AI Power Modules Drive MPWR’s Revenue Surge

Higher-value power modules, increased power content per computing platform and broader customer engagement are supporting Enterprise Data growth. Management has cited rapid expansion among application-specific integrated circuit customers, which are increasingly using modules as power requirements rise.

Management raised its 2026 Enterprise Data revenue growth floor to 150% from 130%. It also expects strong demand across existing customers to continue into 2027, while customer diversification and additional content gains provide more routes for expansion.

MPWR Adds Capacity for the Next Demand Wave

MPWR surpassed $6 billion in annual revenue-supporting capacity during the third quarter and is targeting $8 billion by the second half of 2027. Its fabless model and broader front-end and back-end supplier network can help expand output without requiring a comparable increase in capital intensity. A long-term manufacturing agreement with GlobalFoundries is another part of that expansion.

Volume production at GlobalFoundries’ advanced 300mm facility in Singapore is expected to begin in early 2027 and support power solutions for AI and cloud infrastructure, automotive systems and industrial robotics.

Concentration Raises MPWR’s Data-Center Risk

Enterprise Data’s 42.1% share of third-quarter revenues increases MPWR’s sensitivity to AI infrastructure spending cycles. Management has not provided a 2027 growth rate for the segment, so the pace of expansion beyond the current year remains an execution variable even as demand indicators stay favorable.

The broader analog semiconductor market also remains competitive. Texas Instruments Incorporated (TXN - Free Report) reported continued growth in data center, industrial and automotive markets in the third quarter of 2026. Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI - Free Report) said Data Center and Industrial led its fiscal third-quarter year-over-year revenue growth. MPWR must sustain its design wins and content gains while managing manufacturing costs and inventory.

MPWR’s Strong Signal Comes With Mixed Style Scores

The near-term earnings signal remains favorable. MPWR currently sports a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), a rating driven by positive earnings estimate revisions over the one- to three-month horizon. That signal is less uniform across the Zacks Style Scores. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

MPWR has a Value Score of F, Growth Score of D, Momentum Score of C and VGM Score of F. The Style Scores are designed to complement the Zacks Rank, with A and B representing more favorable characteristics. MPWR’s setup therefore combines strong estimate momentum with weaker value, growth and blended style readings, making the sustainability of its AI-led execution especially important.
