CLB's Q3 Segmental Performance

Reservoir Description: Revenues in this segment declined 4.4% year over year to $84.3 million from $88.2 million. However, revenues increased 7.1% sequentially, supported by stronger demand for laboratory services across Europe-Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

Operating income declined to $7.7 million from $16.6 million in the year-ago quarter. Excluding special items, operating income was $8.1 million, yielding a margin of approximately 10%. The segment continued to face disruptions in crude assay services and reservoir characterization projects due to Middle Eastern conflicts, restrictions on hydrocarbon transportation and expanded sanctions associated with the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Production Enhancement: Segment revenues increased 3.2% year over year to $47.8 million from $46.3 million. Sequentially, revenues improved 4.1%, supported by stronger U.S. land completion activity and increased international demand for proprietary completion technologies.

Operating income decreased slightly to $4.3 million from $4.4 million a year earlier. Adjusted operating income totaled $4.4 million, representing a margin of approximately 9%. Profitability was affected by a greater proportion of lower-margin product sales and delays in diagnostic service projects in the Gulf of America.
