SMCI Raises Fiscal 2027 Revenue Outlook

Founder, Chairman and CEO Charles Liang emphasized accelerating demand for integrated AI infrastructure solutions. Management raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $72 billion-$82 billion from $65-$72 billion.

CFO Mark Long attributed the improved outlook to stronger customer commitments and greater visibility into deployment schedules. However, the forecast assumes continued constraints involving critical components and data center readiness.

For the second quarter of fiscal 2027, Super Micro Computer expects revenues of $19.5 billion-$21.5 billion and non-GAAP earnings of $1.66-$1.90 per share. Management anticipates gross margins between 12% and 12.5%.

Super Micro Computer Expands Its AI Infrastructure Portfolio

Liang identified DCBBS as central to the company's transition toward integrated data center solutions. The offering combines rack-scale hardware, software, liquid cooling and deployment services.

Management highlighted expanding production capacity across the United States and Taiwan. Super Micro Computer targets monthly production exceeding 8,000 racks by December, including more than 4,000 direct liquid-cooled racks.

Liang also emphasized partnerships with Cisco, NetApp and Nutanix, alongside support for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel platforms. The company expects software and services to increase its participation in enterprise AI deployments.

SMCI Faces Margin Pressure From Customer Mix

Long explained that large AI deployments carry lower gross margins than diversified enterprise and channel sales. AI solutions accounted for approximately 71% of first-quarter revenues, compared with 59% in the preceding quarter.

Non-GAAP gross margin reached 12.8%, improving 330 basis points year over year but declining sequentially. Management attributed the quarterly deterioration primarily to customer mix and revenue recognition timing.

During the Q&A, a Loop Capital analyst questioned future AI margins. Long emphasized improving profitability within customer categories while acknowledging that fiscal 2027 gross margins are expected between 11.8% and 12.2%.

Super Micro Computer Addresses Cash Flow and Concentration

Long highlighted improving working capital efficiency, with the cash conversion cycle declining from 149 days to 97 days. Customer prepayments supported inventory purchases and large-scale deployments.

Operating activities consumed $434 million in cash during the quarter. Meanwhile, one large customer represented 44% of revenues, highlighting substantial customer concentration.

A Goldman Sachs analyst questioned the sustainability of customer prepayments. Long emphasized creditworthy customers and disciplined payment terms, while a Bank of America analyst examined financing requirements. Management indicated that additional equity financing is not currently planned.

SMCI Navigates Deployment Delays and Supply Constraints

During the Q&A, JPMorgan questioned the sustainability of growth following approximately $2.3 billion in previously delayed deployments recognized during the quarter.

Long clarified that the fiscal 2027 outlook does not assume a recurrence of that unusual revenue contribution. He identified component availability and customer facility readiness as important constraints on delivery schedules.

Super Micro Computer Emphasizes Disciplined Expansion

Management maintained a constructive outlook for AI infrastructure demand while emphasizing execution, customer quality and deployment efficiency.

Liang reiterated the company's focus on integrated solutions and manufacturing scale. Long prioritized financial transparency, working capital optimization and sustainable profitability as Super Micro Computer expands its global operations.
