Eaton Corporation plc (ETN - Free Report) emphasized accelerating electrical demand, improving capacity execution and broader end-market growth during its third-quarter 2026 earnings call. Management raised annual organic growth guidance for the third time this year.

The discussion also addressed expectations for 2027, Boyd Thermal's expansion and the pricing and supply-chain issues that could influence how rapidly orders translate into earnings.

Eaton Raises Growth and Earnings Outlook

Chief executive officer Paulo Ruiz said Eaton now expects 2026 organic growth of 13% to 15%, up from 11% to 13%. The adjusted earnings per share outlook increased to $13.70-$13.80, with the midpoint rising 25 cents.

ETN Sees Demand Extending Beyond Data Centers

Ruiz highlighted data center revenue growth of 65% and rolling 12-month orders rising 101%. However, he emphasized that demand was expanding across other markets as well.

Responding to a Deutsche Bank analyst, Ruiz cited mid-30% organic revenue growth in machine OEM and double-digit growth in industrial facilities. Rolling annual utility orders rose about 20%, while machine OEM orders increased 55%.

Chief financial officer David Foster reported combined electrical organic growth of 24%, with orders increasing 43% on a rolling annual basis. Electrical backlog surpassed $20 billion, up 46% year over year.

Eaton's Capacity Investments Support Margins

Foster said Electrical Americas' operating margin reached 29.8%, improving 230 basis points sequentially as expanded production capacity supported shipments. Commodity inflation remained a year-over-year pressure, although price-cost turned positive in dollar terms.

In response to a Wells Fargo analyst, Ruiz projected fourth-quarter Electrical Americas incremental margins in the high-30% to nearly 40% range. Foster outlined additional customer negotiations and general price increases effective Jan. 2.

A UBS analyst questioned the impact of another transformer facility on 2027 profitability. Ruiz acknowledged an initial learning curve but said workers were being trained ahead of the opening and fewer expansion projects remained underway.

ETN Positions Boyd for Another Growth Year

Ruiz raised Boyd Thermal's 2026 revenue outlook to $1.9 billion, including $1.6 billion recorded within Eaton. Boyd's backlog has approximately tripled year over year amid liquid-cooling demand.

Asked by a Vertical Research analyst about next year's trajectory, Ruiz projected at least $2.7 billion in Boyd revenues for 2027. Its results will enter Eaton's organic growth comparisons beginning in March.

Ruiz also described the proposed COL Group acquisition as an expansion of European medium-voltage distribution capabilities. Addressing Melius Research, he said large acquisitions were not expected over the next 12 months, although smaller electrical deals remained possible.

Eaton Outlines 2027 Growth Potential and Constraints

Ruiz expects Eaton's end markets to expand at least 11% in 2027, with additional company outgrowth. He also expects incremental margins to improve from approximately 23% in 2026, but stopped short of issuing formal 2027 guidance.

Electrical Global's organic growth accelerated to 27%, supported by strong regional demand. Ruiz told a BNP Paribas analyst that the segment's backlog increased 76% even excluding Boyd, reinforcing his view of sustained growth.

A Citigroup analyst pressed management about aerospace supply-chain constraints. Ruiz said Eaton was helping suppliers expand, developing alternate sources with customer approval and selectively bringing manufacturing in-house to improve backlog conversion.

ETN Focuses on Executing Its Expansion

Management's emphasis remained on converting record orders and backlog into shipments while maintaining pricing discipline. Ruiz said 18 of 25 capacity expansion projects had been completed.

The company also expects to separate Mobility through its planned transaction with Dana in early 2027, a portfolio change management identified as important when assessing next year's comparisons.

Eaton's Zacks Rank and Style Scores
