  • MediaAlpha expects Q4 revenues of $355-$375M and double-digit growth beyond 2026 across financial metrics.

MediaAlpha, Inc. (MAX - Free Report) highlighted accelerating insurance advertising demand, expanding carrier participation and record marketplace activity during its third-quarter 2026 earnings call. Management emphasized favorable property and casualty insurance conditions, and growing opportunities across distribution channels.

Executives also expressed confidence in sustaining double-digit growth beyond 2026, supported by increasing digital advertising penetration and the company's marketplace scale.

MAX Benefits From Expanding Carrier Demand

CEO Steven Yi attributed strong marketplace activity to intensifying competition among insurers seeking policy growth. Multiple carriers increased advertising budgets, broadening demand beyond MediaAlpha's largest customers.

Auto insurance revenues increased 17% year over year, reflecting sustained carrier spending. Yi characterized the industry as being in the early stages of a growth-oriented insurance cycle.

During TD Cowen's questioning, Yi explained that carrier advertising appetite matters more to marketplace volumes than consumer shopping activity. He expects favorable competitive conditions to persist.

MediaAlpha Sees Home Insurance & Agent Opportunities

Home and renters insurance revenues reached $66 million, increasing 116% year over year. Yi attributed the expansion to improving insurer capacity and stronger advertising demand.

Responding to JPMorgan, Yi highlighted renewed carrier activity in Florida, California and Texas. He explained that improving homeowners insurance conditions were encouraging insurers to expand advertising investments.

Meanwhile, MediaAlpha's agent business generated $21 million in revenues, increasing approximately 46% year over year. Its network expanded to more than 3,000 active agents, reinforcing opportunities beyond direct-to-consumer distribution.

MAX Expects Continued Growth Into 2027

CFO Tigran Sinanyan projected fourth-quarter revenues of $355-$375 million, suggesting 25% year-over-year growth at the midpoint.

Contribution is expected between $54 million and $57 million, while adjusted EBITDA is projected between $36 million and $39 million. The full-year free cash flow guidance is pegged at $90-$100 million.

During Canaccord Genuity's questioning, Sinanyan clarified that management's expectations for double-digit growth beyond 2026 extend across financial metrics. He highlighted rising spending among additional carrier partners and the growing contribution of higher-margin marketplace activity.

MediaAlpha Leverages Data Scale & AI

Yi emphasized that the company's marketplace facilitated more than $2.5 billion in annualized property and casualty advertising spending during the quarter.

He cited a carrier optimization test that improved conversion rates by approximately 80%, demonstrating the effectiveness of MediaAlpha's predictive models.

During Goldman Sachs' questioning, Yi explained that greater data scale improves advertiser matching and publisher returns. Separately, responding to Canaccord Genuity and KBW, he maintained that insurers would retain control over policy quoting and binding as AI-assisted shopping develops.

MAX Converts Marketplace Growth Into Profitability

MediaAlpha reported revenues of $375.9 million, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $347.70 million. Earnings of 46 cents per share surpassed the consensus estimate of 33 cents.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 35.8% year over year to $39.5 million, outpacing revenue growth of 22.7%. Contribution increased 25.8% to $57.4 million.

Sinanyan attributed stronger profitability to operating leverage and favorable marketplace mix. During BMO Capital Markets' questioning, he indicated that contribution margins should remain relatively stable, subject to partnership and deployment mix.

During the quarter, MediaAlpha repurchased approximately 800,000 shares for $9 million and retired $23 million of tax receivable liabilities for $12 million.

Responding to KBW, Sinanyan said that these transactions would retain approximately $5 million in annual cash flow previously payable to agreement holders. Management continues evaluating capital deployment opportunities against expected returns.

MAX Maintains Growth-Oriented Outlook

Yi emphasized broader carrier demand, expanding digital distribution and marketplace efficiency as the company's central growth drivers.

Management remains focused on scaling its higher-margin marketplace while preserving operating leverage and financial flexibility as insurance advertising spending expands.
