AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise

Adjusted EBITDA increased 183.7% to $347.5 million, establishing a company record. Adjusted EBITDA margin expanded to 20.3% from 9.4% a year earlier, reflecting higher attendance and operating leverage.

Aron highlighted free cash flow of $109.3 million during the quarter. Management expects positive free cash flow for full-year 2026, supported by improving box-office trends and disciplined spending.

AMC Extends Debt Maturities Through Major Refinancing

Aron emphasized the company's October 5 refinancing, which addressed approximately 97% of outstanding debt. The transaction extended major maturities to 2031 and 2033 while simplifying AMC's capital structure.

Chief Financial Officer Sean Goodman explained that the refinancing also reduced average borrowing costs. Management continues to prioritize adequate liquidity, lower leverage and investments offering attractive returns.

AMC ended September with $751.9 million in cash and cash equivalents. Aron maintained that the company's stronger financial position provides greater flexibility to pursue operational improvements.

AMC Expands Premium Screens to Drive Growth

Goodman attributed stronger operating performance partly to investments in premium auditoriums, enhanced loyalty programs and improved theater economics.

Aron noted that premium large-format and extra large-format screens represented 8% of AMC's U.S. screen count but generated 31% of domestic admissions revenues during the quarter.

Revenues from these premium formats increased 62% year over year. Management intends to continue expanding premium experiences, supported by laser projection upgrades and theater renovations.

AMC Targets Theater Efficiency and Portfolio Optimization

During the analyst Q&A, a Texas Capital Securities analyst questioned opportunities for additional operating leverage and theater closures.

Goodman explained that approximately 10% of theater leases come up for renewal annually, allowing AMC to renegotiate terms or close underperforming locations.

Aron also identified opportunities to reduce European overhead expenses by more than $10 million. Management is exploring artificial intelligence for auditorium scheduling, forecasting, staffing and inventory management to improve operating efficiency.

AMC Sees Opportunities in the Upcoming Film Slate

Aron expressed confidence in the fourth-quarter box office, citing approximately 35% domestic industry growth during October and a strong holiday release schedule.

He expects the domestic box office to exceed $10 billion in 2026, supported by major releases including Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday.

Responding to a StoneX analyst's question about 2027, Aron described the upcoming year as solid but acknowledged uncertainty surrounding individual film performance. He expressed greater optimism regarding the 2028 release slate.

AMC Shifts Its Focus Toward Long-Term Growth

Management's outlook increasingly emphasizes reinvestment in existing theaters. Aron identified upgraded seating, auditorium renovations and technology-driven efficiencies as opportunities to improve attendance and profitability.

Goodman indicated that 2027 net capital expenditures could approach the middle to upper end of the company's $200-$235 million 2026 guidance range, depending on box-office performance.

The call reflected management's confidence in AMC's financial recovery while maintaining a focus on cash generation, debt reduction and disciplined capital allocation.
