Electronic Arts (EA) Offers Beta Version of Battlefield V
Read MoreHide Full Article
Electronic Arts (EA - Free Report) announced the availability of the beta version of its highly anticipated game, Battlefield V that is set to release on Oct 19.
The beta version will include the Rotterdam map in Conquest mode in addition to the Arctic Fjord map in Conquest as well as Grand Operations, allowing users to enjoy a real-time experience.
Notably, the game will be available on PC, Microsoft’s Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for early access members (Sep 4) and others (Sep 6).
EA Steps Ahead With New Technology
EA is trying to lure away gamers from its competitors by differentiating its game with new technology, eventually driving interest among both new and existing users.
Per management, Battlefield V is one of the first games developed by EA using NVIDIA’s (NVDA - Free Report) RTX technology. The new technology will “feature real-time ray tracing as a rendering technique”, enabling users to experience real-time involvement in the gaming world.
Moreover, NVIDIA’s Ansel and Highlights will also be made available with the game exclusively for GeForce PCs. While Ansel permits players to take in-game pictures, Highlights automatically captures the gamers’ winning moments.
Furthermore, EA’s announcement to include battle royale (BR) game mode in Battlefield V is a key catalyst.
We believe that Battlefield V’s blockbuster features coupled with the franchise’s popularity is expected to significantly boost EA’s top line in the second half of 2019.
Notably, Battlefield, one of the biggest growth drivers for EA, remains a fan favorite even after years of launch, per management.
Competition Intensifies
However, Battlefield V, which will be first played in gamescom 2018, competes with Activision’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which will also be showcased on the same platform.
Moreover, the upcoming release of Take Two Interactive’s (TTWO - Free Report) Red Dead Redemption 2 and Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will intensify competition as the companies actively try to gain market share.
Furthermore, the increasing popularity and features of Fortnite are a concern for the company.
It could become the mother of all technological revolutions. Apple sold a mere 1 billion iPhones in 10 years but a new breakthrough is expected to generate more than 27 billion devices in just 3 years, creating a $1.7 trillion market.
Zacks has just released a Special Report that spotlights this fast-emerging phenomenon and 6 tickers for taking advantage of it. If you don't buy now, you may kick yourself in 2020.
