Juniper to Support Epsilon's Worldwide Network Expansion

Read MoreHide Full Article

Juniper Networks, Inc.’s (JNPR - Free Report) Metro Fabric solutions were recently picked by Epsilon for its global network upgrades to power IoT applications and enterprise services. Epsilon — a global communications service provider — offers smart network utility that combines on-demand infrastructure, automation, web-based portals and application program interfaces (APIs).

Juniper’s Metro Fabric unifies Metro Ethernet, cable, broadband, mobile and cloud-based offerings into a single control domain. The solution has been designed to optimize all workflows with instant control, resolution and single-pane visibility into a converged metro network. The Metro Fabric delivers platform economy that enables new business models.

Over the years, Epsilon has been upgrading its networking infrastructure to address massive traffic growth driven by innovation in cloud, Big Data analytics and IoT. Toward that end, the company required a network that would scale seamlessly for Infiny, Epsilon’s on-demand, self-service Software-Defined Networking platform.

After evaluation, Epsilon found that the solutions required for its 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE)-ready infrastructure, which enables simple service delivery across multiple complex metro locations through a combination of routing and optical capabilities, are only offered by Juniper. Juniper’s networking architecture runs on a single open source operating system named Junos. Notably, a common platform covering all the routing, switching and security areas reduces complexity in data centers.

Epsilon can provide a variety of connectivity options across 1GbE/10GbE/100GbE through a combination of the MX10003 5G Universal Routing Platform, and Metro Fabric solutions from Juniper consisting of the ACX5048 Universal Metro Router and BTI Packet Optical Transport Platforms. Enabled by the interoperability of Juniper’s solutions and the open APIs provided by Junos, Epsilon now has end-to-end Service Level Agreement visibility to support on-demand provisioning.

The networking infrastructure powered by Juniper supports continued upgrades of the MX Series 5G Universal Routing Platform and ACX Series Universal Metro Routers, offering scalability and investment protection required to service more than 100 points-of-presence across the United States, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific.

In the past three months, shares of Juniper have gained 6.9% compared with the industry’s growth of 15%. The company is expected to benefit from higher spending by wireless carriers on network upgrades to drive growth in data traffic. Thus, it is to be seen whether such a collaboration and innovative solution deployment will help the company boost profitability.
