Hewlett Packard & Nutanix to Offer Hybrid Cloud aaS Solution
Read MoreHide Full Article
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE - Free Report) recently announced that it has collaborated with Nutanix (NTNX - Free Report) to develop an integrated hybrid cloud as-a-Service (aaS) solution. The hybrid cloud infrastructure, managed by Hewlett Packard, will significantly lower customers’ total cost of ownership and accelerate time to value.
Nutanix’s Enterprise Cloud OS software with its built-in, free AHV hypervisor will be delivered through HPE GreenLake. The solution will also help accelerate the digital transformation journey of customers of both the companies.
As part of the deal, Nutanix’s channel partners will directly sell Hewlett Packard servers combined with Nutanix’s Enterprise Cloud OS software to enable customers to purchase an integrated product.
The HPE GreenLake aaS will simplify IT operations systems and address concerns over vendor lock-in, and will be deployed in customers’ data centers or co-location facility.
The solution is designed to support a variety of use cases, including mission-critical workloads and big data applications; virtualized tier-1 workloads like SAP, Oracle (ORCL - Free Report) and Microsoft; and virtualized big data applications like Splunk and Hadoop.
Launched in November 2017, the HPE GreenLake is an on-premise flexible consumption model provided by Hewlett Packard’s HPE Pointnext business, which enables IT agility and simplifies operations.
In further efforts to boost customer experience and aid their digital transformation, Hewlett Packard Enterprise partnered with Alphabet’s (GOOGL - Free Report) Google Cloud to offer hybrid cloud solutions across public cloud and on-premises environments.
Hewlett Packard has been focusing on restructuring and realigning its businesses to drive long-term sustainable growth ever since its split from the parent company. The company has been constantly evolving with spin offs, or acquiring assets to enhance its capabilities in the hybrid IT model.
The company’s strategy to focus more on high margin businesses is helping it mobilize resources to the fast-growing areas of the cloud such as software defined networks and converged and hyper-converged infrastructure. This will also help it to better compete with players like Oracle , Cisco and NetApp.
The HPE GreenLake aaS is expected to be available in the market in the third quarter of 2019.
