Amazon (AMZN - Free Report) is leaving no stone unturned to bolster presence in the world of entertainment by expanding its tablet portfolio.

Recently, the company unveiled the latest version of its Fire HD 10 tablet, which offers access to more than 450,000 Audible titles and more than 570,000 apps and games. Further, users will be able to enjoy many TV episodes, e-books and millions of songs on this device.

Additionally, the device provides hands-free access to Alexa. This will enable the users to use voice commands to play movies or songs, make calls, display weather updates, check sports scores and other tasks.

Further, the new tablet also features new Picture-in-Picture which allows video streaming from Prime, Netflix, STARZ, SHOWTIME and Twitch, while surfing Facebook, browsing web, checking mails and much more simultaneously.

Further, the Fire HD 10 comes with 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 512 GB, and 12 hours of battery life.

With these features, the company will be able to cater better to its customers and drive tablet sales figures. Consequently, this will aid the revenue generation of the company.

Expanding Tablet Portfolio

Amazon’s latest move bodes well for its continuous focus on innovation and expansion of its tablet portfolio. This is likely to help it rapidly penetrate the global tablet market.

Along with this launch, the company has also rolled out the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition, an advanced tablet built specifically for children. The tablet comes with an internal storage capacity of 32 GB, expandable up to 512 GB, and a one-year subscription of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. With this move, the company has expanded its tablet range for kids.

Further, Amazon unveiled the next generation of the Fire 7 tablet with 16 GB storage capacity and hands-free Alexa. Further, this device will provide improved access to Amazon Prime. Additionally, the company introduced the Fire 7 Kids Edition, which comes with age filters that allow parents to adjust content according to their child’s age.

Competitive Gain

Strengthening tablet offerings of Amazon are expected to aid its competitive position against the likes of Apple (AAPL - Free Report) , Microsoft (MSFT - Free Report) , Alphabet’s (GOOGL - Free Report) Google, Lenovo and Samsung.

These companies are making robust efforts to strengthen their position in the global tablet market, which is currently dominated by Apple.

However, entertainment-based features, customer benefits of Prime, robust content portfolio and updating skills of Alexa are key catalysts, which are aiding Amazon’s growth in the tablet market. Moreover, the company is offering an additional 5 GB of storage for videos, documents and other files in its latest device.

We believe that these factors will intensify competition for the above-mentioned companies in the global tablet market.
