The coil and extrusion coatings group of coatings giant PPG Industries Inc. (PPG - Analyst Report) will showcase its DURANAR and CORAFLON coatings product lines at CONSTRUCT 2013, scheduled to be held at Music City Center in Nashville from Sep 24-27.
PPG will be exhibiting Duranar ULTRA-COOL and Duranar VARI-COOL fluoropolymer coatings from the DURANAR family among the coil coatings. The uniqueness of these products is that they are formulated with infrared (IR)-reflective pigments that deflects solar heat from buildings. This helps building occupants reduce their cooling loads and increase comfort levels.
Duranar VARI-Cool coatings contain pearlescent, polychromatic pigments that shift color depending on the angle from which they are viewed, ambient lighting levels and other factors. There are more than 250 dark, medium and light color shades of Duranar ULTRA-Cool and Duranar VARI-Cool coatings, which are registered with the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). Most colors under the family are compliant with the ENERGY STAR reflectance limits for steep.
PPG will also be highlighting Duranar liquid, Duranar powder and Coraflon powder coatings for extruded metal building components. One can avail Duranar liquid coatings in a vibrant palette of metallic and mica formulations that apply smoothly to architectural metals. Duranar liquid coatings have protected and decorated buildings across the globe for nearly 50 years. All Duranar and Coraflon coatings maintain the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2605 specifications.
Duranar powder coatings hold identical proven formulation as that of Duranar liquid coating, except that they are built in solvent-free, ultra-low-volatile organic compound (VOC) formulations that meet low-emittance standards established by LEED and other sustainable building programs. Duranar powder coatings provide hard, abrasion-resistant, two-coat finishes that are ideal for seacoast environments and other difficult applications along with its broad color shades.
Coraflon powder coatings are built out of high-performance fluoroethylene vinyl ether (FEVE) resin system that works excellently in liquid architectural coatings and have been doing so for more than 30 years. Coraflon powder coatings are accessible in a broad spectrum of metallic colors and bright glosses and provide excellent surface hardness and mar and abrasion resistance in solvent-free, one-coat formulations that emit virtually no VOCs.
Coil & Extrusion Coatings group is part of the Industrial Coatings business unit of PPG Industries. PPG is one of the leading paint company’s in the world along with Akzo Nobel (AKZOY - Snapshot Report), Sherwin-Williams (SHW - Analyst Report) and Valspar (VAL - Analyst Report).
PPG Industries currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
