Hill-Rom Introduces VisiVest, First Connected Airways System
Read MoreHide Full Article
Medical technology company, Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. recently launched VisiVest System, the world’s first wirelessly connected airway clearance system. Hill-Rom claims that this solution provides therapy adherence data that will enable caregivers to take more custom-made and responsive treatment decisions, thereby resulting in reduced risk of respiratory infections, hospitalizations and medical costs.
The VisiVest System solution has been created by combining the company’s high-frequency chest-wall oscillation (HFCWO) technology with wireless connectivity from Qualcomm Life, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. According to the company, patients’ usage data from the VisiVest System will be remotely and securely transmitted to the VisiView Health Portal via Qualcomm Life's 2net Hub.
Taking into consideration the importance of accurate, timely information for treatment decisions in the healthcare space, we understand the necessity of this kind of system. By combining Hill-Rom and Qualcomm Life's expertise, we believe the system will show high market adoption rate down the line.
We note that due to the growing population of the elderly and obese, there are rising incidences of complex diseases and conditions such as diabetes, congestive heart failure and respiratory disease. Patients are being moved through the hospital faster and generally desire to rapidly shift to lower acuity settings. This trend indicates an increase in the demand for more sophisticated means to deliver care for these patients, such as improved medical technologies, communication tools and information technologies. This, in turn, expands Hill-Rom’s scope of growth.
We believe the company’s constant efforts to meet changing demand with new and differentiated products will increase its ability to drive revenues and improve margins further, going forward.
Currently, Hill-Rom carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
