Interest expenses were $26.4million, up around 15.3% from $22.9 million in the prior-year quarter on account of higher long-term debt.

Cash flow from operating activities was $141 million, compared with $190 million in the year-ago period.

Northwestern Corporation reiterated its earnings guidance in the range of $3.20–$3.35 per share for 2016, depending on normal weather conditions in its service territories, an effective income tax rate of nearly 6–10% on pre-tax income and outstanding diluted average shares of approximately 48.6 million.
