Google's New Classroom App Features for Better Learning
Read MoreHide Full Article
With the back-to-school season just round the corner, Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL - Free Report) owned Google has added some new features to its Google Classroom platform that will enable students to have a better understanding of the subjects as well as keep parents aware of their kids’ progress in school.
Automatic E-mail Updates: Teachers can now send regular updates to parents via e-mails and keep them informed about what’s going on in school.
However, teachers are required to verify the guardian of the student in person so as to ascertain that the information doesn’t go into the wrong hands.
Annotation Capability: Both students and teachers will now be able to annotate assignments or homework with the help of the Google Classroom app. For example, after a student completes an assignment, he/she can highlight specific portions or add notes to them. Additionally, the teacher while checking the assignment can also highlight specific portions and add their valuable inputs in the form of annotations. This makes the process of conveying ideas a lot easier, leading to better understanding of the topic by the student.
Expeditions: Google Classroom will now come loaded with a new virtual reality app called Expeditions. With this app, teachers will be able to take the class on virtual trips to historical places, interesting locations, inside the human body or other unknown places.
Apart from these, many other innovative features have been added to the app.
Our Take
We note that, of late, Google has been showing its interest in the classroom segment with the introduction of Google Classroom, which is gradually gaining traction in the field of education. We expect to see more such innovative additions to the app in the future.
