Read MoreHide Full Article
Chamberlain College of Nursing, part of the Medical and Healthcare segment of DeVry Education Group Inc. (DV - Free Report) , entered into a clinical education partnership with American Red Cross. Now students in Chamberlain’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (“BSN”) degree program will get the opportunity to experience first-hand caring for communities in need.
Through this partnership, BSN students will participate in Red Cross initiatives like assisting with blood service collection, participating in disaster services and teaching others on preparedness, health and safety. This will help students enhance their clinical skills and also practice Chamberlain’s person-centered approach to care for patients.
Notably, DeVry Education’s medical schools post strong results, with incredibly low cohort-default rates and high job placement. In particular, the medical and health care segment, Chamberlain and Ross, gained on strong demand for jobs in the field of healthcare across the U.S. In fact, the segment reported revenues of $231.2 million, up 8% year over year in fourth-quarter fiscal 2016, driven by strong enrollment at Chamberlain College of Nursing. For the May 2016 session, total enrollment at Chamberlain surged 18.9% while that in the July 2016 session rose 15.9%.
Management believes that this partnership will create expanded learning opportunities for their nursing students, provide public health services to local communities and create meaningful opportunities benefitting both the students and the communities they serve.
Lately, the company has adopted multiple initiatives at its different universities to boost the top line in the face of tough competition from schools like Lincoln Educational Services Corporation (LINC - Free Report) , TAL Education Group and Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (UTI - Free Report) . Among the initiatives, DeVry University has chalked out varies strategies, Becker Professional Education has partnered with the Chicago Medical Training Center while Ross University has launched a digitally advanced multimedia learning experience, to name a few.
