Lincoln National Corporation (LNC - Free Report) recently launched i4LIFE Indexed Advantage which is a fixed-indexed annuity benefit rider. The new product would provide dependable, tax efficient income for life along with continuous access to account value. This would ensure consumers a guaranteed lifetime income.

Variable annuities are mainly long-term investment products that offer a lifetime income stream, access to leading investment managers, options for guaranteed growth and income and death benefit protection. These are designed for retirement purposes and are subject to market fluctuations, investment risks and possible loss of principal. Lincoln National will make this product available at an additional cost through its New Directions 8, OptiBlend 7 and 10, and OptiChoice 5, 7 and 9 fixed indexed annuities.

Lincoln National has always been proactive in meeting its customers’ varying needs through several product upgrades, new product launches etc. The company’s shares have gained 48% in the last one year, outperforming the industry’s rally of 34%. This reflects shareholders’ confidence in this Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock.

This product was initially launched in the variable annuity space in 2000 primarily aiming at helping clients maximize their income, maintain access and control of their investment, and live their retired lives with more ease and comfort. Since its introduction, the company has seen more than 150,000 elections ofthis product — accounting for more than $30 billion of i4LIFE Advantage assets.

The product also aims at providing more after-tax income in return of investing nonqualified money. In addition, it provides opportunities for increasing income payments every year when the account value grows greater than 3%. Apart from offering continued access to account value with control on investments, it further provides protection for beneficiaries with a dollar-for-dollar guarantee of Principal death benefit.

i4LIFE Indexed Advantage not only provides clients access to all its exotic benefits but also lowers their expenses. Also, as an exception to other living benefit options in the industry, this new product offers favorable tax treatment with nonqualified money to help savers maximize retirement income.
