Activision recently launched Call of Duty: World War II’s fourth expansion pack, Shadow War, on Sony’s PlayStation 4.

The downloadable content (DLC) pack features three new multiplayer maps, a new War Mode mission, and conclusion to the Zombies chapter, Frozen Dawn. The expansion pack is available to season pass purchasers and any individuals who wish to purchase it separately.

Activision, for the first time, is allowing season pass purchasers to invite their acquaintances to simultaneously play with them and experience the multiplayer maps and War Mode mission for free starting Aug 28 till Oct 28.

This approach will help the company draw new gamers and build interest in its upcoming games, eventually driving user growth.

Activision is leaving no stone unturned as it continues to bring in new features and new games to Call of Duty (COD), one of its most popular franchises.

Call of Duty: Key Catalyst

Activision is primarily riding on Call of Duty and Overwatch, which fueled top-line growth in the last reported quarter.

Call of Duty continues to be one of the most important revenue generators for the company.  Notably, Call of Duty: WWII was the top-selling console video game in 2017 globally.

Additionally, Activision’s strong foray into the e-sports market with the help of its popular games like COD and Overwatch League is a positive.

Moreover, King Digital’s Candy Crush continues to contribute significantly to the company’s revenues.

However, the intensely competitive video game publishing industry along with increasing competition from the likes of Electronic Arts (EA - Free Report) and Take Two (TTWO - Free Report) among others is a concern for the company.

But with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 as well as new content releases, we believe that the Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock can take on Electronic Art’s Battlefield V and Take Two Interactive’s Red Dead Redemption 2 to maintain its competitive position.

Much like petroleum 150 years ago, lithium battery power is set to shake the world, creating millionaires and reshaping geo-politics. Soon electric vehicles (EVs) may be cheaper than gas guzzlers. Some are already reaching 265 miles on a single charge. With battery prices plummeting and charging stations set to multiply, revenues that were already at $31 billion in 2016 are expected to blast to over $67 billion by the end of 2022.
