Most Interesting New ETFs
The ETF industry continues to grow at a healthy pace. 247 new ETFs have launched in the US this year so far, taking the total number of US listed products to 2,226 and assets under management to about $3.6 trillion.
At the same time, more than 140 ETFs have been liquidated this year, which suggests that the industry is maturing and competition is heating up.
Today, we are highlighting two very interesting ETFs that made their debut recently.
The SPDR Kensho Final Frontiers ETF holds companies associated with exploration of outer space and deep sea. It is the first ETF to target outer space although there are a couple more in the pipeline.
With recent tech advances, space and deep sea exploration is no longer science fiction. Elon Musk is planning a Mars mission in the next 3-4 years. Pentagon's Space Force could become operational by 2020.
Morgan Stanley estimates that revenue generated by the global space industry will increase to $1.1 trillion or more in 2040, up from $350 billion in 2016, according to State Street.
Top holdings include Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings , HEICO Corporation (HEI - Free Report) and Boeing (BA - Free Report) .
The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Communication Services ETF provides equal-weighted exposure to the new Communication Services sector.
The new sector is home to many high-flying technology, media and entertainment stocks, including 3 FAANG stocks—Facebook , Alphabet (GOOGL - Free Report) and Netflix (NFLX - Free Report) .
While Communication Services market cap weighted ETFs have outsized allocation to a couple of heavyweights, this ETF provides more exposure to many smaller, innovative players in the space.
