Looking for broad exposure to the Mid Cap Blend segment of the US equity market? You should consider the BNY Mellon US Mid Cap Core Equity ETF (BKMC - Free Report) , a passively managed exchange traded fund launched on April 9, 2020.

The fund is sponsored by Bny Mellon. It has amassed assets over $644.55 million, making it one of the average sized ETFs attempting to match the Mid Cap Blend segment of the US equity market.

Why Mid Cap Blend

Mid cap companies, with market capitalization in the range of $2 billion and $10 billion, offer investors many things that small and large companies don't, including less risk and higher growth opportunities. Thus they have a nice balance of growth potential and stability.

Blend ETFs usually hold a mix of growth and value stocks as well as stocks that exhibit both value and growth characteristics.

Costs

When considering an ETF's total return, expense ratios are an important factor, and cheaper funds can significantly outperform their more expensive counterparts in the long term if all other factors remain equal.

Annual operating expenses for this ETF are 0.04%, making it one of the least expensive products in the space.

It has a 12-month trailing dividend yield of 1.52%.

Sector Exposure and Top Holdings

Even though ETFs offer diversified exposure that minimizes single stock risk, investors should also look at the actual holdings inside the fund. Luckily, most ETFs are very transparent products that disclose their holdings on a daily basis.

This ETF has heaviest allocation to the Industrials sector -- about 20.9% of the portfolio. Information Technology and Financials round out the top three.

Looking at individual holdings, Us Foods Holding Corp (USFD) accounts for about 0.59% of total assets, followed by Tenet Healthcare Corp (THC) and Guardant Health Inc (GH).

The top 10 holdings account for about 5.22% of total assets under management.

BKMC seeks to match the performance of the SOLACTIVE GBS UNITED STATES 400 INDEX TR before fees and expenses. The Solactive GBS United States 400 Index TR intends to track the performance of the largest 400 mid cap companies from the US stock market.

The ETF has a beta of 1.02 and standard deviation of 17.09% for the trailing three-year period. With about 407 holdings, it effectively diversifies company-specific risk.
