Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (IBKR - Free Report) is set to report third-quarter 2026 results on Oct. 15, after market close. Its quarterly earnings and revenues are expected to have improved year over year.

In the last reported quarter, the company’s earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Results were primarily aided by an increase in revenues, growth in customer accounts and a rise in daily average revenue trades (DARTs). However, higher expenses acted as the undermining factor.

IBKR has a decent earnings surprise history. The company’s earnings surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate in three of the trailing four quarters and missed in one, the average surprise being 10.9%.

IBKR’s Earnings & Sales Projections for Q3

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Interactive Brokers’ third-quarter earnings has been unchanged at 66 cents per share over the past seven days. The estimate indicates a 15.8% rise from the year-ago quarter’s reported number.

The consensus estimate for sales is pegged at $1.83 billion, suggesting a year-over-year increase of 13.5%.

Interactive Brokers’ Other Key Q3 Estimates

Client trading activity was healthy in the third quarter of 2026, supported by active investor participation amid evolving interest rate expectations, geopolitical uncertainties and market volatility. Continued interest in artificial intelligence-related stocks and portfolio rebalancing across asset classes provided a favorable backdrop for trading activity.

IBKR’s monthly brokerage metrics reflected sustained momentum, with DARTs increasing year over year throughout the quarter. The company also witnessed robust growth in client accounts and customer equity, highlighting continued customer acquisition and asset gathering. Thus, healthy trading activity across stocks, options and futures, along with an expanding client base, is expected to have supported IBKR’s commission revenues. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter commission revenues stands at $589 million, implying 9.7% year-over-year growth.

The company’s net interest income (NII) is also expected to have benefited from higher interest-earning asset balances. Customer margin loans expanded during the quarter, reflecting sustained borrowing demand, while customer credit balances remained elevated amid continued asset inflows. Growth in margin lending and client cash balances is likely to have supported interest income, although changes in benchmark interest rates and interest paid on customer balances may have partly offset the benefits. The consensus estimate for NII is $1.12 billion, indicating a 15.7% increase from the prior-year quarter’s actual.

Revenues from other fees and services are also expected to have increased, supported by an expanding customer base and higher trading-related activity. Increased exchange-mandated payments for order flow, risk exposure fees and market data fees are likely to have contributed to growth in this revenue stream. The consensus estimate for this line item is $88 million, suggesting a 33.3% year-over-year increase.

On the expense front, operating costs are expected to have increased due to higher execution, clearing and distribution expenses associated with trading activity, alongside continued investments in technology infrastructure, platform development and regulatory compliance. Higher employee compensation and customer servicing requirements amid an expanding client base may also have contributed to expense growth.
