Key Takeaways

  • WY's Wood Products segment may benefit from higher lumber volumes, realizations and EWP price adjustments.

Factors Influencing WY’s Q3 Results

Revenues

Weyerhaeuser’s third-quarter 2026 revenues are expected to have increased year over year, supported by anticipated growth in Wood Products sales volumes and higher lumber realizations. However, performance is likely to have varied across segments, reflecting differences in product pricing, demand and transaction timing.

Within Wood Products, which accounted for approximately 72.8% of second-quarter 2026 net sales, higher lumber production and sales volumes are expected to have supported revenues. Higher lumber realizations and planned engineered wood products (“EWP”) price adjustments might have provided additional support. However, OSB realizations are expected to have remained under pressure from supply exceeding demand. Our model predicts the Wood Products segment’s net sales to increase 11.1% year over year to $1.36 billion in the third quarter.

Timberlands, which accounted for approximately 27.7% of second-quarter 2026 net sales, is likely to have faced pressure from lower average domestic sales realizations due to product mix in the West and lower sales realizations in the North. Lower sales volumes to Japan due to vessel timing might have also weighed on revenues. Our model predicts the Timberlands segment’s net sales to decline 3% to $519.9 million.

For Strategic Land Solutions (formerly Real Estate, Energy & Natural Resources), which accounted for approximately 7.5% of second-quarter 2026 net sales, revenue performance is likely to have depended on the timing and mix of real estate transactions and activity across its businesses. Our model predicts the segment’s net sales to be $100.6 million, down 2.3% year over year.

Earnings

Weyerhaeuser’s third-quarter 2026 earnings are expected to have declined year over year, as higher fuel and manufacturing costs in Wood Products are likely to have offset some benefits from improved sales volumes and pricing. The company expects Timberlands earnings and adjusted EBITDA to be slightly higher than second-quarter levels, while Strategic Land Solutions earnings and adjusted EBITDA are expected to decline approximately $30 million and $45 million, respectively, due primarily to the timing and mix of real estate sales.

Our model predicts Timberlands’ adjusted EBITDA to decline 13.3% from a year ago to $128.3 million. For Strategic Land Solutions, adjusted EBITDA is expected to decline 11.4% from a year ago to $80.6 million.

Within Wood Products, the company expects third-quarter earnings and adjusted EBITDA to be moderately lower sequentially by approximately $30 million, excluding changes in average sales realizations for lumber and oriented strand board (“OSB”). Higher-than-expected fuel costs and an unfavorable mix shift in EWP are the primary reasons for the revised outlook.

Our model predicts Wood Products adjusted EBITDA to grow year over year to $102.5 million in the third quarter. Higher fuel costs, planned OSB maintenance and increased resin costs are expected to have pressured margins, while slightly lower lumber unit manufacturing costs might have partly offset these pressures.
