Dow Inc. (DOW - Free Report) has announced the launch of DOWSIL IE-5619 DWOR Emulsion, a durable water and oil repellent solution featuring innovative fluoro-alternative chemistry for the global textile industry. The product is designed to help textile chemical formulators, mills and brands meet evolving regulatory, environmental and consumer requirements.

The third-generation silicone-organic hybrid technology provides durable water and oil repellency without relying on fluorinated chemistries, which are facing increasing regulatory restrictions. It also helps preserve fabric softness, breathability and aesthetics.

DOWSIL IE-5619 is a 30% solids concentrate developed for conventional textile finishing. It is suitable for synthetic, natural and blended fibers, although performance varies depending on fabric type. The product is designed to maintain water and oil repellency after more than 20 home laundering cycles. It also supports tape and logo adhesion without requiring additional surface treatments. The emulsion can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes, with typical application levels of 1-3% based on fabric weight and curing of 1-3 minutes at a minimum temperature of 150°C.

It is now being sold globally, strengthening DOW’s position in the textile supply chain. It underlines DOW’s focus on developing specific solutions to incorporate application needs and support product validation on specific fabrics and finishing lines.
