Factors Likely to Have Shaped Centrus Energy’s Q3 Performance

Centrus Energy’s total revenues were up 14% to $176.1 million in the second quarter of 2026. The Low-Enriched Uranium segment’s revenues increased 22% year over year to $153.4 million. Uranium revenues totaled $53.4 million in the second quarter of 2026 compared with no revenues in the year-ago quarter. However, separative work unit (SWU) revenues declined 20% to $100 million, as a 23% drop in volumes more than offset a 3% increase in average selling prices.

For the third quarter, higher uranium prices are likely to have been a tailwind. Uranium prices averaged approximately $88.56 per pound during the quarter, up 16% from the year-ago period.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for uranium revenues is currently pegged at $16.87 million, suggesting a 51% decline from $34.1 million reported in the third quarter of 2025. Despite higher uranium prices during the quarter, uranium revenues are expected to have declined, primarily reflecting lower anticipated sales volumes and the timing of customer deliveries

The consensus estimate for SWU revenues stands at $27.9 million for the quarter, indicating a 161% increase from the $10.7 million reported in the prior-year quarter.

Overall, revenues from the LEU segment are expected to be approximately $44.8 million, largely in line with the third quarter of 2025. Lower uranium revenues are expected to have been offset by stronger SWU revenues.

Technical Solutions revenues declined 21% to $22.7 million from $28.8 million in the second quarter of 2026. The decrease primarily reflected a $5.9 million drop in revenues from the DOE's HALEU Operation Contract. Revenues from the Technical Solutions segment for the third quarter are projected at $16.63 million, suggesting a 45% decline from $30.1 million in the year-ago quarter.

Cost of sales for the Low-Enriched Uranium segment is likely to have declined due to lower volumes. The consensus estimate for the Low-Enriched Uranium segment’s gross profit is projected at $5.83 million, suggesting an improvement from the loss of $7.8 million in the third quarter of 2025.

Gross profit for the Technical Solutions segment is projected at a loss of $2.07 million against profit of $3.5 million a year ago.
Additionally, higher selling, general and administrative expenses, increased interest expenses and elevated advanced technology costs related to the company's expansion initiatives are expected to have further pressured earnings during the quarter.

LEU’s Price Performance

Centrus Energy shares have fallen 69.9% in a year against the industry’s 28.8% growth.
