Southwest (LUV) Offers Numerous Options for Holiday Travel

In a bid to cope with peak travel demand during the holiday season, Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV - Free Report) has announced several new and ramped up services.

Southwest strengthens its presence across Northern California by aiming to offer up to 98 departures per day from San Jose, CA to several destinations across the United States and Mexico, this month-end. To this end, the carrier recently began nonstop operations between San Jose and Tucson, AZ with the planes plying from Sundays to Fridays. Additionally, the airline has increased the frequency of flights connecting San Jose with Portland, OR to eight roundtrips on weekdays, reflecting an increase of two flights per weekday. Meanwhile, the frequency between San Jose and Orange County/Santa Ana has been augmented by one flight each weekday to 11 roundtrips.

The carrier has also begun nonstop flights from Burbank connecting Houston (Hobby) and Chicago (Midway). Services on these routes are available from Sundays to Fridays.

Further, expanding its footprint across the Washington, DC's Reagan National airport, the carrier has initiated a service between Oklahoma City and Washington, DC (Reagan National). Moreover, it has bumped up services connecting Washington, D.C. (Reagan National) with Nashville and Dallas by an additional flight to four and five weekday roundtrips, respectively.

Recently, the airline also began its daily operations between New York (LaGuardia) and New Orleans. Also, it has added a flight on the New York (LaGuardia) and Dallas Love Field, New York (LaGuardia) and Denver as well as New York (LaGuardia) and Kansas City routes, thereby increasing the flight frequency to five, three and two weekday roundtrips, each. Following these additions, Southwest offers around 35 daily flights from LaGuardia.

The carrier has also begun operating between Chicago (Midway) and Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos, Mexico during the weekends. Additionally, the carrier has resumed its daily seasonal services between Austin and Cancun; Denver and Puerto Vallarta; Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Belize; Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Grand Cayman; Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood and Turks and Caicos; Houston (Hobby) and Liberia, Costa Rica as well as St. Louis and Cancun. Beginning Nov 10, 2019, the airline will also resume a seasonal Saturday service connecting Nashville with Cancun, Columbus; Ohio with Cancun and Indianapolis with Cancun.

Adding more to the extended services, the carrier has started a daily nonstop service connecting Denver wih Lubbock. Also, it has introduced nonstop flights between Houston (Hobby) and Philadelphia plus Houston (Hobby) and Sacramento on Sundays.
