Amazon Strengthens Cloud Services Portfolio With AWS IQ

Amazon (AMZN - Free Report) is making every effort to expand presence in the cloud computing space on the back of its robust cloud services portfolio.

The company’s cloud platform Amazon Web Services (AWS) has made AWS IQ generally available. Notably, the new service is equipped to easily connect with AWS-Certified experts and enable seamless interaction with the project oriented customers.

Moreover, AWS IQ helps in automating the deployment of infrastructure, selection of best architecture for a particular workload andmigrationto AWS.

Further, it provides tools and workspace for secure collaboration, streamlined project tracking and integrated billing. Moreover, its integrated tools for encrypted chat, video conferencing and billing aid in defining work budget and managing the entire process.

Portfolio Strength: A Key Catalyst

The latest move of Amazon strengthens AWS services portfolio, which in turn willaid it in gaining traction among customers.

Apart from AWS IQ, the company has recently made its new GPU-powered Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud instance, G4 instances, generally available.

Furthermore, AWS made Amazon Quantum Ledger Database available to customers. This helps in storage of structured and unstructured data in the ledger on the back of its database capabilities and document-oriented data model.

AWS also announced the general availability of Amazon Forecast and AWS Lake Formation. While the former provides highly accurate forecasts by leveraging ML techniques, the latter aids in seamless building, securing and managing data lakes.

Customer Base to Expand

AWS is likely to attract new customers to platform on the back of its third-party expertise. AWS IQ helps in optimization of spending. It enables customers to reduce the administrative overhead required to execute the project.

Further, the service helps in offsetting the uncertainty involved in finding an AWS-Certified expert.

Amazon has already gained traction among few customers including — Anaconda, Empowered to Run, Elementryx and Belle Fleur Technologies.

AWS is likely to sustain its dominant position in the global cloud computing space on heels of its expanding clientele and services portfolio.  

Moreover, these will provide the company a competitive edge against other cloud providers like Microsoft (MSFT - Free Report) , Alphabet’s (GOOGL - Free Report) Google, Alibaba (BABA - Free Report) and IBM, to name a few.

We note that in second-quarter 2019, AWS acquired 33% market share, leaving Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud trailing with market shares of 16% and 8%, respectively, per Synergy Research data.
