Facebook (FB) Outpaces Stock Market Gains: What You Should Know

Facebook closed at $212.60 in the latest trading session, marking a +1.88% move from the prior day. This change outpaced the S&P 500's 0.35% gain on the day. Elsewhere, the Dow gained 0.24%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 0.56%.

Heading into today, shares of the social media company had gained 4.67% over the past month, lagging the Computer and Technology sector's gain of 6.72% and the S&P 500's gain of 4.69% in that time.

Wall Street will be looking for positivity from FB as it approaches its next earnings report date. This is expected to be January 29, 2020. On that day, FB is projected to report earnings of $2.50 per share, which would represent year-over-year growth of 5.04%.
